Im a Canadian citizen but currently living and working in the USA. I have an American wife and I want to immigrate her to Canada.

Just wondering if I NEED TO go back to Canada and get a job there and established so I can prove to Canadian immigration that I can support my wife? Or can we apply from within the USA and wait for her visa and then we cross the border when she has her entry visa?

As a Canadian citizen you can sponsor while living in the USA. You'll just need to show IRCC you really intend to move to Canada after her PR app is completed.

What would they accept as proof that I intend to move to Canada when her PR app is complete?

Here's what I have:

- A church that I've been heavily involved in before I left Canada for USA. I know the pastor and maintain regular contact and involvement with his church even at a distance. I attend his online Bible studies and prayer meetings.

- I have visited Canada twice since I left for USA. My parents and brothers live in Canada and are citizens.

In short, I have more social connections in Canada than I have in the USA.

Will that fly as good enough reason that I intend to live in Canada when wife's PR is complete?
