I need your advice people. I applied for student permit in Abu dhabi 16th june

I got an email from CIC

Saying they positively assessed my application and that because my passport isn't a valid document they require two things. First is a Flight ticket and TRP, Temporary residence permit which I have to pay 200 dollars. they said TRP is necessarily needed to facilitate my travel since my passport is not really good.

I applied from my SP from VAC at 16th of june. No medical was asked.


Does this mean I am getting a visa ?

TRP for Canada or a copy of your immigration status here in UAE?

I guess your application is approved, and the loi or visa will only be issued once you provide them the documents they are requiring you to give them.

Are you sure that e-mail is received from CIC. Cause it is strange that they doubt on your passport validity, but still want to issue study permit. If you are approved for study permit why TRP is needed is not clear for me. The only thing you need is TRV for which you have already paid when submitting your application.

Temporary resident permit for Canada as it will facilitate my travel, my passport is somalian and as far as I know its not approved by the canadian embassy. That info I already did know. TRP document will be my passport in that case.

That makes it clear why the officer said your passport isn't a valid document.

I suggest you call VFS for further verification of your case and so they could advise you what's the best thing to do.

But with how I see it, you need to book yourself a flight right away and pay CAD 200 for the TRP and/or submit documents for TRV.

Yeah dont worry I am going tomorrow morning. The same already happened with my brother and cousin before they went to Canada, they hold the same passport and they asked them for the exact same papers and got their visa right after. So wish me luck
