Thanks a lot DenR!

I am little confused about the NOC classification, if we talk about my job duties. I am working as a 'Research Scientist' in the field of product development of lubricants and metalworking fluids. Can you/anyone else assist me in identifying my NOC categorization?

shrinivas1980,
you could possibly satisfy NOC 2145 requirements (check the complete list of eligible occupations on www.cic.gc.ca/english/immigrate/skilled/complete-applications.asp)
but you have to get a reference from your employer(s) that says that you performed some or all of the duties (the more the better) listed on http://www5.hrsdc.gc.ca/noc/english/noc/2011/QuickSearch.aspx?val65=2145

Dear DenR,

I forgot to mention in my previous post that I am not in to petroleum engineering.I am working on vegetable oil based research. My job profile involves Research pertaining to vegetable oil based lubricants. So, what could be my NOC catagory?

Hi,
So far as your experience in the last 10 years fall under any of these eligible NOCs, you can apply. As DenR has pointed out you may apply under 2145...For your previous experience, search for the job description for the closest NOC here as per the hrsdc link provided above and see if the main duties are similar to what you have performed. You can apply under more than one NOC, just ensure you provide experience letter for each NOC you are claiming points for.

shrinivas1980,
then check NOC 2134, for example. you have a chance even if you are a scientist and not an engineer, the key moment is to get an appropriate reference.
my wife is a researcher in physiology and she has applied (and got PER, though it doesn't mean a final success) under "technologist's" NOC 3217
