I have completed one month in Canada today and am happy to be here ;D

Got two full time jobs. Working 5 days a week at one place (bank) and 2 days a week at another (cashier at a gas stn) and loving both. The long and tiring PR process of 2 years and 3 months has been put on the back burner and enjoying the present in Canada, the land of opprortunities.

Missing the family but skyping is so comforting to chat with them regularly.

Best wishes to every one waiting for their PR process to complete and come to Canada.

I got gas stn job thru walk-in (the owner got this gas stn about two months back only, and needed a person. My relative goes to this place and asked me to check) and banking job through a placement agency. I hope you will find my following posts informative.

thx for this info...luck always favours the brave...once i remember i also got job thru walking and that time i even didn't know the employer at all....i was only enquiring at different places and knocking doors....hard work and efforts always pays off..good luck to you...

Cheers!!!!!!!! Nice to read an encouring post, rather than people complaining I have qualifications & degrees and no work in my profession......... (hahahaha Hard work guys)

I have a friend who was a HR manager in Dubai & set foot in Edmonton last month....... She got a job in logistics (night shift) and she loves it for a start. Now that's the spirit..........

I might be coming to the same area. Verma, did you also post your landing experience? What did you carry for PoF?

Thanks.

No, I didn't write it. Entire landing process was very smooth, cordial and friendly. They didn't see any document or POF except PP and COPR. I wasn't even asked about the funds I was bringing-in. When I was previously in Canada from 2008-2010, I had opened an account with TD Bank which I maintained after returning to India while waiting for the PR process to complete. I had transferred more money into it prior to my departure. I was carrying my bank statement as debit card with me as POF.

Cheers..

Its $ 11/hr at the gas stn and $ 15/hr at the bank (it varies from position to position at the bank). I have just put my foot in the door at the bank. I am told by my colleagues that a good performer is not let go and is normally regularised in 4-6 months. I have started pursuing local banking related certifications with an aim to grow my career here.

I have just changed my profile picture beacuse I am loving Canada.
Good for you vermas,

I'm also a banker and would like to know if I should prepare for the CSC exam before landing early next year though I'm still in the process. What about the SAP certification? Please guide. I'd really love to be well prepared before landing.

Many thanks and all the best.
