Afternoon all.
I've been staying here in Canada for almost a year now. Came out here around the end of November back in 2012. Around the time May came (my visa would have expired at the end of May), I sent in a request to extend my visa for another six months. I had planned on sending in my PR paperwork that month, but a few unexpected events occurred that prevent me from paying the fees required for the paperwork.
Now, it's September and I have all my paperwork in order and (hopefully) the money required for the fees. I also received an extension on my visa, but until the end of this year. I heard that getting through the first stage of PR takes anywhere between six to nine months and not sure if I can extend my visa again or not.
So, for my questions:
- Exactly how much will my fees be?
Looking at the fee's list (cic.gc.ca/english/information/fees/fees.asp#visas_permits) I am a bit confused.
- The "Sponsorship Application (per application)" fee -- do I need to send in $75 for myself and another $75 for my wife? (my wife is sponsoring me; she is a Canadian citizen)
- The family member fes ($550 and the $150 fee), is this only for family members I will be bringing in with me? I am not bringing any family members with me, although I do have a daughter that was born in Canada back in March.
- When sending in an application for the work permit (I plan on sending it in with the rest of the PR paperwork), are these the correct forums to fill out: cic.gc.ca/english/information/applications/work.asp
I do understand there's an $150 fee for work permit, but was just unsure if all these documents needed to be sent it with it or not.
- My visa extension expires at the end of December. Am I able to apply for another extension since my paperwork will be sent in before it? This is the one I am most concern about since in order for them to process my PR request, I must have a valid status here to begin with.
I really do apologize for asking these questions, but I just want to make sure I have everything 100% to prevent any additional delays.
