Alert – Strike Action

The Professional Association of Foreign Service Officers (PAFSO) union is currently taking strike action. PAFSO union members responsible for processing visa applications have been walking out of offices in Canada and overseas.

Posted processing times for both temporary and permanent resident visa applications do not take into account work stoppages.

Anyone applying for a visa should anticipate delays and submit their application as far in advance as possible.

Contingency plans are already in place to ensure all offices remain open and are providing at least a minimum level of service. Priority will be placed on urgent humanitarian applications.

CIC continues to closely monitor the situation.

Just though to add the actual alert to your post. Hope they come to terms soon!

Take Care

From articles i have read, right now there are select missions abroad affected.

I phone the embassy in my situation and asked about work interruptions. The worker said there was no interruption. The embassy in Kiev, Ukraine is working like normal. I don't believe it's a guarantee of an interruption in the future though. THIS is what I'm still afraid of. The articles I've read suggest an increase in action taken by foreign service workers like walkouts and doing the absolute amounts of work and not a minute more.

So, let's pray Canada and this union will settle so that WE don't pay MORE for their greed and injustice. It's their fault, not ours(people waiting to be reunited).
