Im a woman from chile southamerica, I arrived in canada as visitor with visa of 2 weeks only, around 3 months ago, and I got married with my boyfriend of 3 years he is from Canada.

We are in process to fill the forms and get all the papers they ask for submit the application for Resident Permanent. I asked for extension of visa (of course I didnt have enough time as 30 days before my visa expires) so during all this time we have no asnwer at all from the visa extension, but we read on the official website that is not necesary to keep a visa status active after get married if we are gonna submit for resident permament. But today (31 december) I recieved a letter from immigration that I have to leave the country TODAY, but we recieevd this letter today excalty...

What Im suppose to do now, I am married, I dont work or study illegaly here, we just wait for ask my residence. Its an error from the immigration, they see my visa was expired but dont know im married or what? I have to leave for real the country? what if i dont leave?

Thank you, for the help-

It doesn't matter that you are married. You still needed to apply for a visa extension to stay in Canada. You could try requesting to have your status reinstated but I think that it will be in vein. It appears that you need to leave and wait for CIC to process your PR visa.

so this mean I have absolutely no choice at all than to leave?

It seems that way, so they stamped your passport, so you could stay for 2 weeks?

You could try for another visit visa when you go back.

Why did you give you a visa for only two weeks?

becuz in this moment i just wanted to come in canada for get married and i was thinking by asking the extension everythign will be fine, but finally they never give me the answer, and even like that on the same page of immigration they said after get married we dont need a valide visa necesarly... so im totally destroyed and confused now that nothing of this was truth...
I dont know how much time i have for leave. I cant to leave tonight or tomorrow, we need to get some money for the travel in chile, in this time of the year the trip is more expensive.

Very sorry to read this but Im not totally surprised by it either. Speak to Imm lawyer asap.

So Im trhinking you applied inland, and after you get back home you will have to re- apply as outland.

Actually I have looked at flights to Chile, and seen prices from $1100.00, I guess that is expensive for one way....including tax

You know your husband could get PR within 6 months in Chile.

Sorry about what happened to you

Yeah but we are not in conditions to pay that so easy in theses days exactly. But anyways I wish to know if I really have any other choice than to leave, and if really a imm lawyer can help me to evit that trip? or even with this I will have to leave one day?

I think you can still ask for Restoration of visa. Please speak to lawyer.

IT should not cost too much for advice....

Alright, so Im looking for a lawyer, have to wait until 2 or 3 january anyways, holidays are the worst time for a problem like that. And, no words to describe how we feel now with my husband, the worst new ever. Even if there is still the possibility to make the application outland.

BTW anyone knows how many days I can stay here before to leave? the last chance day they gave me was for today, but is too late, at least I will have to wait 1 week for having enough money for my ticket. I dont want things goes worst as a deportation...

If you drink, have a drink and try to relax no point in worrying, just think you have not been refused.....

Did you send your marriage certificate or Certificate of solemnization of marriage along with the application of your visa extension?? If not You Must send one of these for your extenuation of stay. I am sure you would get it without any problem. in yor covering letter you may also include that you are going to apply for PR under family class in Canada. and No need to hire any Immigration lawyer or consultant. you need not to be a rocket scientist to apply your extension. ;D

Good Luck.............. ;D
