Hello,

I don't have receipts for our shopping or anything. I don't keep the receipts and never knew i would need them later on. Is it an issue?

Its makes ur case strong as you are showing expenses spent on your marriage .but if u don't have its not a big deal.

Thanks

Not a big deal for me, I didn't send any restaurant, gift, shopping receipt but my file is good. Waiting for my visa now.

I dont think u need to worry. I had shopping receipts but the immigration consultant I used told me no need to send it as it wont make a difference in the case. (Maybe I shouldnt have listened to her).

If they're not in English, do we have to translate them?

I didn't send any receipts but I did send a bank statement from a mutual bank account. Something showing mutual finance management can make the application stronger, but on the other hand, if your case is pretty straight forward those documents might as well be useless, like was told to kbrar2727.

If the documents are not English or French then yes, they need to be translated.

http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/information/applications/guides/3999Etoc.asp:

"Any document that is not in English or French must be accompanied by:

the English or French translation; and
an affidavit from the person who completed the translation; and
a certified copy of the original document."

I would send everything that might help your case. It's better to send too much than too little. Just explain in the application what you are sending.

I did that once in October, I am not sure if I should do it again... my husband's name is on the receipt and it says family support. It was through another company..

This is for official documents, the ones they specifically require like marriage certificates.

Shopping reciepts do not need to be certified or translated.

My wife's father doesn't speak English and we translated his support letter personally. It wasn't an issue. We also included receipts for the wedding photographer and food for the reception etc. which were only in Indonesian. This also was not an issue.

Yes, financial support from sponsor to PA does help. But it has to be consistent and not just a one off thing, or greatly varying amounts.

I sent 16 pages of western union reciepts showing relatively the same amount of money being transferred on a biweekly basis.
