There's a couple of forms that I didn't include because I didn't need to fill them out. Will CIC return my application? I just realized this while reading another thread and I'm FREAKING OUT! All of the forms below are part of the application package to sponsor a spouse.

IMM5409E : Statutory declaration of common-law union (application guide says only include this "if applicable")
IMM5476E : Use of a representative - sponsor (application guide says only include this "if applicable")
IMM0008DEPENU : Additional dependants/declaration form
IMM5476E : Use of a reprentative - applicant

If they were applicable to your situation then the application will be marked as incomplete and returned, otherwise you are fine.

None of them are applicable to my situation, but do the people who check for completeness care about whether forms are applicable or not or do they just go by a single checklist?

Is any APPLICABLE to you?
Did you apply as common-law?
Did you use a representative (for yourself and the one you are sponsoring??
Do you have more than 5 dependents?)

If none is applicable, all you needed to do is write N/A against these forms on the two checklists.
Hope this helps.

No, we did not apply as common-law, so I did not include IMM5409E.
No, neither I nor my wife used a representative, so I did not include IMM5476E or IMM5476E.
No, we do not have any dependents, so I did not include IMM0008DEPENU.

Though I didn't include the forms, I did write N/A on the checklist. I hope that will be good enough.

I know it would've been better to just write N/A, but since none of the above applied to us, I thought it'd be fine to just not include them as part of my application. Please someone tell me I'm not screwed...
Well, no one can be too sure...you just have to wait and see. Chances are whoever is reviewing your application will figure out that they are not applicable to you. Worse case scenario is for them to send it back as incomplete (under the assumption you forgot to include them) - some have had that experience unfortunately :(

I edited my reply after you posted. Though I didn't include the forms that weren't applicable, I did write N/A on the checklist for each one of them. Does that help my case?

Oh man...that's how it's supposed to be. So I'm not sure why you are so anxious.

Thank God for that.

I was just anxious because I read another thread where someone had their app returned for not including a travel history form since they didn't have any travel history, though I guess that's a slightly different scenario than mine.

OMG I didn't put "N/A" for the forms that aren't applicable for us on checklist...
I thought I just need to check all the forms that were included in my application......

Does it say somewhere that I have to mark "N/A" on the checklist?

Help please!

No, it doesn't say that anywhere on the checklist.

What did you do for the forms that weren't applicable? Did you just leave the corresponding boxes blank on the checklist? And secondly, do you remember which forms you didn't include?

People! Please stop freaking out and scaring others unnecessarily!

You follow the instructions and the checklist and fill out the forms that are applicable to your case. Period.
You don't have more than 5 dependents? Simple: don't include that form and don't check the corresponding box in the checklist. You feel like you want to put "N/A" in the checklist? Or draw Canadian flags or smiley faces on every page? By all means, but it's not required.

The Travels form is different: as per the instructions and the checklist (which everyone should read and follow), it has to be filled and submitted by everybody. It doesn't say "if applicable" next to it. Even if you didn't travel, there's a box that says "Did not travel" that you need to check. Edit: Thanks to elokuu for correcting me below - bottom line: follow the instructions ;)

There are no hidden or secret instructions. Just relax, follow the instructions, and all will be well :)

Good luck to all!

Not true, it depends on the applicant's nationality and/or visa office. The checklist for many European countries such as mine only asks to include the form if the application will be processed in Paris.

Just follow your country specific checklist and you'll be fine.

Hello

I am sponsoring my wife according to family class. We have children together who are already Canadian citizens. Do I have to fill the 0008DEP?

Thanks

1. No, if you read the instructions it states " who are not already permanent residents or Canadian citizens" in the dependents section.
