So i submit an application for adult Canadian citizenship last January. Yesterday i got a mail back and its my application forms with the incomplete application message with it. The reason for the return is;
"The passport(s) or travel document(s) provided do not cover the 6 year period preceding the date of your application. Please send us a photocopy of the biographical page of any other passports or travel document(s) you have had during the relevant 6 year period." . I have no clue what I did wrong with my documents, First of all i got an old passport which already expired so i got a new updated one. I printed a copy of every biographical page for the old passport and since I haven't used the new passport to get in/out of the country I only to printed the page with name,photo and passport number.

Someone please help me figure this one out. Thanks in advance!

How many biographical pages the old passport has? Do you mean that you printed every single page of the old passport?

I only copied all the page that has prints on it, I left the empty ones. I also copied the page with photo,name and passport number. I also include the back part where you see the emergency contact.

You should include only the Bio pages of the both passports. Nothing extra. Otherwise the IRCC employee is getting confused and such aftermath errors from them are common.

For whatever reason, they think you didn't send them passports covering the full six year period prior to your application. Did you? Are you sure? Was there a gap between the validity period of your old expired passport and the new one you got?

since you have already submitted most of the pages of old passport you can copy all pages of both passports and write a cover letter explaining that you are submitting copies of both passports and these are the only passports issued to you.
although an application is still considered complete if you only submit the biographical pages.
but in your case stick to what you have already done and this time submit all pages of all passports covering the period specified.

3. Biographical page of passport(s)/travel document(s)

The biographical page means the page that has your name, photo, passport/travel document number, issue date and expiration date.

Provide photocopies of the biographical pages of all passports and/or travel documents (valid and cancelled) for the six (6) year period immediately before the date of your application, or since you became a permanent resident, whichever is more recent.

Also, provide photocopies of any renewal pages of the passport(s)/travel document(s).

Note: If your passports and/or travel documents have any gaps in the time they cover during the past six (6) years, or since you became a permanent resident, whichever is more recent, attach an explanation.

Note: If any of these documents are no longer in your possession, attach an explanation.
You need to provide an explanation if you have any day in the 6 years period where you had no valid passport (i.e. if your old passport expired on January 1st 2014 and your new passport has been effective from January 4th 2014, you need to join a letter explaining why)

I agree in my case I had only 1 passport but that it was expired so they send same letter saying 6 yrs period etc. make sure you write the reason if your passport is not valid for myself I simply wrote I am not planning to go outside Canada due to my work and I am waiting for my citizenship so I don't even need back home passport if I don't want...so just write some reason and hopefully it should be fine...
