NEED HELP FROM SENIORS
Dear All ,
I am on PR Status , did my landing last year and now coming back to Canada on permanent basis . I am a medical teacher , MBBS , MD - Anatomy and in teaching for the past 9 years .
I applied for Phd program in Anatomy and Cell Biology. I was not given any place in the program .
I then applied to 2 more programs , Masters in Anatomy + Neuroscience for September 2011 . I have not hear any words from the University .
Now I am landing in Toronto with my family ( wife + 2 kids )
The admissions in University programs outlines that the applicant must contact the supervisor before applying for the program . With this as the basic requirement , I will keep on contacting the supervisors once i land there
I need the help of seniors for :
1. Place where to hire an apartment on month to month lease . I will try hard to apply for Jan 2012 term in university. So I can not hire the house / apartment for yearly lease.
2. My daughter is in 7th class in my home country . ( Age 11 years 2 month ) . I am interested to know her grading ( 5 / 6 / 7 )in the school in Toronto.

Please help me .
Thanks

Security checks could be done at any stage. Some applicants get scrutinised after the Meds too. Some before. There really is no formula. Police Clearance is valid for a year from the date of issue. Here is more...

Hey thanks for your kind words. There's immense help available via this forum and these selfless seniors are unbelievable.....they will not leave you in a mid-sea, no worries there. If item 1 is good news, item 2 should be the least of your worries. You should get in touch with us atleast 2 months prior to landing, so we can make all arrangements. And by all means, shoot a PM whenever you have a query. I am happy that you are finding most of the answers here.

And now please put a huge smile, because you have almost made it. :) :)
This is it my friend!:D ;D One-less worry for now... Thank you very much for making me feel better. Surely, i'll get in touch with you a couple of months prior to landing.

Meanwhile, although this next part is off-topic, I'd just like to express my gratitude to the seniors for their kindness and enormous contributions in this forum. Though i'd maintain that your thread is the one I liked best, I cannot just place on the next best guys like Capt. Qorax, Explorer101, Saki, and many more (oops, pardon again as the space may not be enough for more names);) The threads they have started are outstanding! If those are movies, they are hands down blockbusters!.. And what's important, I can feel their sincerity in helping people out..

Thank you and may your tribe increase further!

My friend was in a situation like you when she was in her early stage of pregnancy. Her relative in Toronto agreed to accommodate her initially but then also turned her back. Without friends and relatives, she went to Vancouver to give birth and it was okay. She's still living in Vancouver with her son.
That's what you call determination and willpower! I actually have the Plan B ready given the situation. But with bsrk68 and the seniors around, I may have to create anew my Plan A.. Thanks for sharing Steaky!

Dear bsrk,

Thanks for your reply.

What if one have no friend / relative to help in finding accommodation ?

What do you suggest in this condition ? Please help me on it.

Regards
Mayank

Hi Mayank,

You will have to contact someone you know in Canada who can assist you finding a temp accommodation. After landing, you can look for something permanent. An area called "Malton" in Mississauga is an excellent place to live in the first couple of years of landing in Toronto. Its close to the airport, all facilities at your door-step, somewhat safe, ethnic grocery, cheaper accommodation and readily available, easy access to the City, lots of places of worship and access to community centres, including Service Canada. Wish you all the luck my friend.
