I understand that I cannot recieve any social assistance during the 3 year undertaking, but after that am I free to claim disability in Canada?

Should I declare in my Spousal forms that I am disabled and hoping to apply for Canadian Benefits later or would this hurt my chances of being accepted?

Thanks!

You can be sponsored. What benefits are you hoping to get in Canada? What province? Is your spouse not working? You would need your disability professionally assessed too.

I was hoping to apply for basic Disability assistance, not sure what the official name is. We live in British Columbia and spouse is not working, but has large savings.

Would I be assessed during the application process?

If you meet eligibility requirements you can apply. Check out the BC requirements to understand the process. Your doctor in Canada (family or specialist) will have to fill you the forms. If she has large savings that may factor in to how much you receive per month.

Yes the fact that you are disabled has to be declared and can factor into approval. You will have to do a medical, list employment information, savings information, etc. so there will be no hiding the fact that you are disabled. If you are claiming disability in your home country that will also be evident so no pount hiding the fact. In general, Canada does not want to approve people who will be dependent on the government. Without a work history in Canada you would not qualify for CPP disability and with significant family savings there is a good chance you will not qualify for disability payments. Provincial disability payments are usually limited to those without much savings. You are expected to use up personal savings first. How old are you and your spouse and are we talking about enough savings to live off for the rest of your lives? You will have to address how you will support yourselves without disability payments and without your spouse working.
