My common law partner of 6 years has decided she does not love me anymore and no longer wants to be with me. I applied to become a PR inland on October 3, 2013 and have been waiting nearly a year now for stage 1 approval. My entire life is here, everything I know and love is here, everything I want is here and this is where I need to be in order to be mentally capable of getting on with my life. That may sound extreme but it's just how I am wired. I have been dreaming about a life here for too long now, have gone through so much to get to the point where i am and am so close to actually acheiving it. I went to school for 2 years and worked for 1, none of which fall under the skilled worker program and I find it hard to beleive that finding an employer who will sponsor you comes easy. I am wondering how else I can possible live here? As I said, my entire mental health rests on being here. I may be able to eventaully get over my common law partner but I cannot lose her AND the entire life that I have come to know here. I am in dire need of help and am willing to hear any sort of advice. How do I go on establishing a life in canada? What are my options? is there any way she can still sponsor me? We submited the application with genuine intentions had no thoughts of "fraud' throughout this entire process. She would still love to sponsor me but if we legally aren't a couple anymore there's literally no other class she can sponsor me in. Is fraud even something to worry about or could we move on through this process easily and officially separate afterwards? i have no idea what to do. I am asking every possible solution here. I fear that if i don't find a way to keep my life in Canada afloat I may end up in a mental hospital or risk harming myself. I am so lost and don't know what to do. Thank you in advance for anything. Ugh.

Please take some time to deal with the end of your relationship before stressing about PR. Everything seems overwhelming right now, but give it time.

Also, know that there are many numbers you can call if you feel distressed. Here is a list of numbers you can call in Toronto (where your profile says you are located).

I do get that, and thank you for cocern. But I feel in order to be on the road for mental healing I need to have confidence in my Canadian future. Otherwise there is no hope or "light' to look to. I have been dreaming of this for so long now, the inland delay happened and i was powering through it and I feel like i'm so close. I can't have it ripped from me now without being eligible to apply in any other form. It's my entire life.

There are more senior members who might know more than I do.

I do know there isn't another way for her to sponsor you. It is as a spouse or nothing - you can't sponsor friends. I do also think fraud is something to worry about. Someone could report you. Or if you move on and either of you want to sponsor again you might run into issues. I have read cases on here when people say their application for their second husband was denied because they believed their first relationship is a marriage of convenience. Fraud is a serious crime, risky and it could impact your future. If your relationship breaks down you should inform CIC.

I don't know about many other options for PR. There are more senior members who know more than I do, so wait for their ideas.

I know a lot of people who completed a 4 year degree at a university, received an open 3 year work permit, became PRs and eventually Canadian citizens. Check out the international students forum for more information. However they did pay international student fees at university which are quite high. So maybe this isn't an option for you.

I'm sorry to hear that this has happened. However the PR application is now invalid and you MUST inform CIC of the change in your circumstances. Failing to do so will be considered as misrepresentation and could result in you being removed from Canada and given a two year ban. At this point, your ex is not in a position to further assist you to apply for any alternative application. Could you qualify under CEC or PNP?

You can't proceed with the common law applications. As others have explained, doing so would be fraud. It's really too bad you didn't apply for PR using the outland method since you most likely would have had PR long before now (but that's obviously water under the bridge at this point).

As others have suggested, your best chance is to once again take a look at the Provincial Nomination programs and see if there are any you may qualify for. (It's too bad you don't have the right experience for CEC.) It sounds like you have quite a network of friends in Canada. Is there anyone there who can assist you in getting a permanent job offer that would qualify you for FSW or one of the Provincial programs?

If not, then my next recommendation would be to find some kind of full time job that at least gets you a work permit in Canada (even if that's just temporary).

Good luck.

I have been here since March of 2009. I received a 1 year study permit and studied Media Fundamentals until April 2010. I then got a post-graduate work permit and worked at home depot/Staples full time until my work permit expired after about 13-14 months. I then went back to school for journalism on a study permit but did not graduate from the program. I have excellent knowledge of canadian society, I have paid my dues here contributed to the economy, planned my life here, and have a lot to offer this nation. My only downfall is that I do not have 12 months of work experience in one of the specific skilled fields. That is my only downfall. How do I go about applying under CEC? Would I even be considered? What can I do to beef up my "resume" so that I am considered under CEC? I know I am asking many questions but obviously this is hugely important and I need to figure out a way to make this work. Thank you.

Do you have any relatives in Canada, in Manitoba to be specific. I am not sure, maybe others can correct me if i am wrong. I think residents of Manitoba can sponsor their blood relatives, need not be a spouse. Its worth exploring that.

In your other post you mentioned that you worked full time, 13 months as a warehouse manager. If so, and you have a letter from stapeles/depot to support your application, you qualify under CEC, noc is 0721.

I was hired as an overnight helper/stock boy and that is what my title was. They trained me to manage and oversee the warehouse a couple of months into my time there but my "title" was never officially manager. Looking back I feel a bit taken advantage of but that is pointless now.And no ties to Manitoba.

I was looking into humanitarian causes but I am from the US and not sure they would take me into consideration for being eligible. My hardship is that I mentally cannot cope with the fact that my life in Canada may be over as it's all i've known my entire adult life and it's where I call home, it's where I planned my future. But the place I was born is not a country that would torture or abuse me if I returned, so I don't know how much sympathy I would have in the eyes of immigration.

That would definitely not qualify for H&C.

In order to gain the experience necessary for CEC, you could do 1 of 3 things:
1. Find an employer to hire you into a job that qualifies, and is willing to go through the time and cost of LMIA process to get you a closed work permit
2. See if you can get a job under a specific NAFTA category and get a work visa based on that. Though I don't think you would qualify for anything in the NAFTA list. http://www.canadavisa.com/nafta-work-permits.html
3. Get a new OWP via the SWAP program. Though I think this would require you to go back to school in the US for a bit. http://www.swap.ca/in_eng/us_index.aspx

How does one go through the motion of convincing an employer to hire them and go the LMIA route when they could easily just hire a canadian citizen instead? I feel like that is something that not many employers would want to take on and would just simply look for easier candidates.

Keep your application going, don't change anything!

I am sure you can tell your partner to meet you during the landing interview where you just sign some documentation, it will take no longer than 20 minutes then you can become a Permanent Resident forever.

This will only work if she can still do that for you, yes you might no longer be together but that is the very LEAST she could do for you so you can stay here.

It makes sense to do this after everything that has happened.

so you're basically telling the op to commit misrepresentation and risk having his pr revoked, face deporation or worse? what's your suggestion to the op about condition 51 after committing such fraud? you know, the whole having to live with your sponsor for 2 years after landing thing? oh yeah, and what about that silly thing about the sponsor being financially responsible for the applicant for 3 years?

So you're basically telling the OP to commit fraud and misinterpretation? This is the type of mindset that makes more restrictions for the rest of us in genuine relationships. Makes me question the validity of yours. Wow.
