You entered at the beginning of the increase of asylum seekers crossing on foot. There seems to have been a group of asylum claimants that became new quasi-legacy cases when they implemented the new processing system for expedited and the rest of the cases. CIC seems to be slowly clearing the older applications. @SAMER MAHER was one of the people with a similar timeframe.

Its depends on your case. But usually if your case is simple the approximate time is 06 Months under Expedite Process. But once its postponed then long wait.

Don’t think the simplest case get processed first. Think new cases are identified as expedited or not. Then they are separated into hearing and no hearing. If you need a hearing it will likely be around 6-12 months. Lots of luck involved because if you are the first one on top of the pile when they start scheduling the case you are likely to be schedule first. Anyone who is determined to be an expedited case is lucky because they will have a significantly shorter asylum process than others. Clearly they have gone through awful circumstances so would prefer not being an asylum seeker but at least they do get to wait less than other asylum seekers and be in a country where they are provided safety and support.

Hi. I applied for refugee from Edmonton. My refugee claim was suspended for some reason but i got a letter from the board last week that they have resumed my case . Can anyone tell how long can i expect for my first court hearing. My lawyer told me it could be in summer. I have heard it very quick in western Canada. Like 3 to 4 months due to less backlog. Thanks.

You have already been waiting over a year so yes you may get your hearing sooner rather than later. Given that you have stated that you don’t have a good reason for asylum your gf should be focused on getting off of welfare and working so she can attempt to sponsor you.
