I am a Quebec resident, born in Canada and my wife is an Ecuadorian citizen. I want to apply as a sponsor from outside Canada but I don't want to be a Quebec sponsor. We want to go to Ontario. Do I have to apply as a Quebec sponsor? or can I avoid that by saying that we are moving to Ontario? I really need to know so I can start the process. I really am in the dark here and it would be greatly appreciated if I could get a clear response.

I think that unless you are actually not living/working in Quebec, you can't apply to sponsor as though you are not in Quebec. It's not that there is a different process in the other Provinces, like Ontario . . . it's that there's a different process, in the form of additional requirements, when the sponsor resides in QC - because the assumption would be that you'd be bringing your partner to QC. They would certainly be looking for people who are trying to get out of those additional requirements by saying they intend to live in another Province, but if you're still living in QC, I'm certain that wouldn't fly. That said, the requirements are not that much more difficult - one additonal set of forms and about 6 weeks time, and I think a modest fee . . .which all happens between when the sponsor is approved at CPC-M and when the case goes overseas. (Not sure what the order is if it's an inland ap - I actually don't think I've ever seen an inland PR ap to QC.) Anyway, after that the whole thing processes just like every other spousal PR ap.

So, if you're actually moving to Ontario, I'd suggest you complete the move BEFORE you submit the sponsorship application.

Thank you for responding. I will explain my situation a bit better.

I was born in Canada. I got married in Ecuador with my wife who is an Ecuadorian citizen.
I have my Ecuadorian citizenship which I was able to have my father was born here.
We have been living in Ecuador for about 4 years and just recently I moved to Montreal Quebec.
I moved around 2009 worked until end of January 2010. Around beginning of February I came back to Ecuador,
and I am here until this present date. I have my health card, bank account, I filled out my income tax for this year and an I have a home/mailing address. I don't rent since it is my cousins place,
but they let me stay for all that time. My son is born in Canada but has his Canadian citizenship.
I came back to Ecuador, because I want to be with my wife and son while the residency process is going on and that is why I want to sponsor outside of Canada. I was born in Canada and that is why I know I have that option.

I also have a business here in Ecuador, so you can say I have my residence in both countries.

I want to know if I can apply from out side of Canada as a sponsor with this situation?

Yes, as long as you are a Canadian citizen, you can apply to sponsor while you are living outside of Canada - but you still must submit with your application proof that you intend to return to and settle in Canada. Because all of your "ties" to Canada, including your most recent job, are in Quebec and, in fact, that's where you want to settle, I think you should just bite the bullet and apply to sponsor to Quebec. The process is not that much longer - relatively - and then you'll be able to be where you want to be and your proofs for plans to come back will be much easier to produce. What they do not want is a sponsor to send a sponsored family member to Canada and not come with them - so, because you have rather substantial ties to Ecuador, you should also be prepared to show them (if they require it) that you are breaking your ties to Ecaudor, or they might not believe you actually intend to return. At the very least, do not capitalize on the ties to Ecaudor (as you have here) because they don't give you any kind of advantage in terms of sponsoring. Instead, focus on your ties to Canada.

So when they ask for my address in the application forms, I should write down my Montreal address even tho I am applying from Ecuador?

No, it's okay to use the Ecuador address - you want them to be able to contact you if they have to. But I believe you do have to declare where you intend to resettle - and if you have a residence in Montreal, and a recent job history there, that will make it a lot easier to prove your intent to resettle there.

Maybe look carefully through the sponsor's forms and the sponsor's guide to get a better idea of how it will play out in the application itself.

I would like to answer this even though you are getting really good advice from Robsluv. I am in the US sponsoring my husband from the US. I got a letter from my parents in Alberta stating that I could stay with them until I got established in Canada. I wrote that I would stay at her house but all of my forms contain my address in Michigan because that is where I actually live.

Really great answer RobsLuv. I will put down my Ecuadorian address, but should I send them a copy of my bank statement which is currently active at this moment? Is that enough proof to show that once my wife get her residence card that we will be going to settle in Montreal?
Since I don't have a rental agreement because I was staying at a family members house, would I be able to send a letter -along with my sponsorship application forms- written by my cousin stating that they will allow my to stay in their place until I settle, just like Heatherusa mentioned? will that make up for not having a rental agreement?
