When
i came back to Canada i had to go onto welfare as i didn't have a job. I got a job 2 months later. I had a lot of debt to address immediately. And well, sadly he wasn't working because (my understanding) of his mental state. It was not a good situation all in all. I took on another job some months later. He's now freaking out that he has to find a job since his benefits will run out soon. He thought that he would be approved for his visitor visa and come to Canada and find a job here. I admit that our situation was not well thought out and we really needed proper legal advice. He needs to seek therapy and start working again. Then we need to figure out what to do and save up for future visits/sponsorship fees. I've been working on the sponsorship paperwork and getting it all ready to mail to him. Getting death records and police background info for my deceased dad is taking a while to come in.
Just want to point out a few things:
1) even if he gets a visitor visa, he cannot work in Canada
2) he will not get any coverage in Canada on his treatement on visitor visa, so if he wants to get any treatment or thraphy, he should do so in Italy
3) Since you have been on welfare, and now you are working and off the social assistant, you should call the provincial organization and make sure they take you off the list
4) Why do you need dead certificate and police background info of your dad? I think you only need this kind of document for the applicant. Not the sponsor. You only need your birth certificate/passport/citizenship certificate as your ID.
