Husband refuses to get his Italian citizenship, will this look bad on our sponsorship?

I've brought up me moving there with him but he refuses. So we're in this stagnant moment right now.
So what's the plan B if his visa is refused? If he refuses for you to live there with him will you divorce then?

I did live with him from April to August 2018, we got married on June 30 2018. I have not been able to visit him since because of our finances. He's not working and I'm working 2 jobs. I'm still paying off my debt from the last visit. I have no money to afford a trip at this time. It's around $1000 for the flight each time. Plus having to make sure i have enough money to cover my bills and rent back home while I'm gone. It sucks, i want to be with him and i wish i could hop on a plane everyday. I've brought up me moving there with him but he refuses. So we're in this stagnant moment right now.
To be honest, the refusal for you to live there, the accusation of you using him to live there, his refusal to help you do anything to be together, it's all red flags relationship-wise. If he were to be called for an interview and said those things, it would be a pretty easy refusal for IRCC.

You may want to consider putting off any immigration thoughts until his mental health has improved.

I've had these same thoughts. I'm currently seeking mental health for myself because dealing with this has taken it's toll on me.

It's been brought up by him a few times and numerous threats of suicide. It's been an emotional rollercoaster and I'm seeing a therapist to help me cope.

Sorry about financial problems. I understand how it is, but I don’t imagine not seeing your beloved one for a year... at least for a week. Him not getting Italian citizenship is okay for immigration, but not seeing each other, him blaming u that u want only to move to eu most likely will be seen as a red flag. I would do all possible to meet more before or while applying for spousal sponsorship and make your relationship stronger!
i came back to Canada i had to go onto welfare as i didn't have a job. I got a job 2 months later. I had a lot of debt to address immediately. And well, sadly he wasn't working because (my understanding) of his mental state. It was not a good situation all in all. I took on another job some months later. He's now freaking out that he has to find a job since his benefits will run out soon. He thought that he would be approved for his visitor visa and come to Canada and find a job here. I admit that our situation was not well thought out and we really needed proper legal advice. He needs to seek therapy and start working again. Then we need to figure out what to do and save up for future visits/sponsorship fees. I've been working on the sponsorship paperwork and getting it all ready to mail to him. Getting death records and police background info for my deceased dad is taking a while to come in.

Just want to point out a few things:
1) even if he gets a visitor visa, he cannot work in Canada
2) he will not get any coverage in Canada on his treatement on visitor visa, so if he wants to get any treatment or thraphy, he should do so in Italy
3) Since you have been on welfare, and now you are working and off the social assistant, you should call the provincial organization and make sure they take you off the list
4) Why do you need dead certificate and police background info of your dad? I think you only need this kind of document for the applicant. Not the sponsor. You only need your birth certificate/passport/citizenship certificate as your ID.

?? You don't need any such documents for your family members.

The sponsorship process is incredibly stressful. Expect it to take at least one year. Seriously, you may really want to consider delaying while you both improve your mental health.

Have you looked into the possibility of moving to Italy? I imagine if he is unemployed he will not be able to renew his visa at a certain point. Do you have many in person visits before you got married? That will definite be a factor when you eventually apply for sponsorship.
So I've brought up me moving there to him but he refuses. He renewed his work permit in Italy recently so he's set for a while. I've visited 3 times in total. First time 2 weeks, second time 20 days and third time 4 months. He is not a citizen of Italy so I'm not even how it would work IF I moved there anyway.

So with the vistor visa, if he had been approved we were told by immigration Canada that we could apply for the inland sponsorship and open work permit. We were planning to get the max time on the visitor (under 6 months) and hopefully have the open work permit in 4 months (the estimated processing time). Then change his visa status from visitor to work. The visitor visa failed so outland sponsorship is our next option.

The treatment is something that will ongoing (probably for life because he's bipolar) and i was assured that as long as it did not exceed the new government limit of $20,000 then it was of no concern since he's not a danger to Canadians. He requires 2 kinds of medication and I'm pushing for him to seek therapy in Italy. It's important to me that he gets proper help asap in Italy.

I did receive a letter from Ontario Works saying I'm no longer eligible to receive benefits but I'll double check with them. Thank you!

I agree. It's really taken a toll on me and on him. I really want to visit him and start the sponsorship to be together but his mental state worries me a lot. One of my goals is to visit him asap. I'm lucky to have a good doctor that understands and the mental health association has drop in therapy sessions once a week. My only issue is trying to make him understand the whole situation and that's been the difficult part.
