Hey Shiny,
There is no way for us to tell you if the interview was favourable or not... but we can speculate.
I'm going to say I think it might be a good thing that they kept your husband's police certificate and gave back everything else. Often times when someone is approved, the officer will give back or mail back all the "extra proof" stuff that people sent along with their packages or brought to an interview because he/she is satisfied that the relationship is real and is not worried about possible upcoming appeals and stuff where that information would still be needed. The police certificate is a legal document and is usually not given back, so this is not unusual and is probably a good sign.
The fact that the officer asked for proof of pregnancy and your husband had it is good news. Questions like "how do you know you're the father" and such put a bad taste in our mouths, but often the officer is trying to throw the person off guard or make them lose concentration. It seems your husband gave the best answer he could and that the VO was probably satisfied.
I personally dont think the officer being a bit short or asking harsh questions means a negative interview. Especially since the officer mentioned medical redo and such. I personally would guess it went well.
That's not to say that once he re-looks over the file he wont change his mind or find something "weird" if it exists and it is very possible for a denial after an interiview, HOWEVER, if I had to guess, I would say this was a favourable interview for your husband. I wish you the best of luck!
