How will I know if they are sending application back?

Hi all

The CIC received my spousal visa application 10 days ago, as it was signed for, but i have not received an email saying they have started processing it yet (as in opened it and everything there was there and sent a reference number). Is this a normal timescale? Also how will I know if they are returning it to the address listed due to some error? Shortly we will be moving address so i'm not sure if they let us know if they are sending back or not?

Any thoughts would be appreciated.

Covid threw IRCC's schedule out the window. You can expect a wait of at least a couple of months before hearing anything at all from them.

Oh, if your application is rejected for missing docs/signatures they'll simply mail it back to you. No advanced notice. Even in this scenario, it will be many weeks before they even open your application.

Either way, you're in for a bit of a wait.

Hello, current acknowledgment of receipt timeline is about 6-8 months. August applicants are getting acknowledgement right now however, some applicants from March, April, etc are still waiting. There is a long wait ahead of you for the initial email from IRCC due to covid. Even before covid you wouldn’t have received an email in 10 days.

No, they will not let you know that the application is being returned. Best idea is to get mail forwarding from old address to new address.
