Hi
need some immediate help!
i am residing in Canada.
I had applied for immigration for me and my wife who is residing in India and application is being processed in Detroit, USA. process in almost complete.
The embassy people have asked for Passports to grant visa.

Please tell me the process as of how to send her passport from India to Detroit as it is not legal to mail/courier the same.

Will the Canadian embassy in India forward her passport or can she give authorisation to someone to carry her passport to Deteroit.
Thank you

nobody agrees to courier it
please give me some alternative
thanks
1. Yes it is illegal to courier/mail passport in or out of India
2. Really 2 choices, have a trusted friend bring it to the US or attempt to courier it, by not stating what it is to the courier. But that may be difficult.

I do have a trustworthy friend who can bring the passport.
But can my wife give him authorization to carry her passport.
Is this legal?
What if the enquiry people ask if passport gets traced in scanning?
Will they allow, if we have application from the Detroit Itself.
Thanks

Yes, as long as the person has the authorization and an explanation in writing, it should be okay.

Hi Supreet,
I am currently in the same condition where you were in 2 years back. New Delhi office has asked me to submit my passport for visa stamping (for Canadian PR) & I am currently in Canada.
I have already sent passport to India with my friend & submitted to New Delhi

1. How long CIC New delhi takes to stamp visa in this case?
2. Did they question you - How did you send passport to India when you are there in US?
3. How did you get your passport back to US?

Thanks in Advance!

Dear Everyone,
I have received the passport request from NDVO and I am living in Japan. Most of the courier companies have denied except the DHL which has agreed to send my passport from Japan to NDVO.According to DHL,a passport can be from embassy to embassy or from individual to embassy if a accompanied with a letter for the customs clearance.
On showing the letter from NDVO they have agreed to send my passport.

Has anyone been in the similar situation of mailing passports across the borders which is an way illegal?

Also does NDVO provides extension for passport submission dates when the candidate is living overseas?
Regards,
Manish

Indian passports clearly state at the back that it cannot be mailed outside the country, DHL does accept in certain cases and if you write a letter to customs, you are actually inviting trouble, Many have managed to send it mentioning "documents" and it's reached Delhi but there is 1 case ( which we heard ) where passport was seized as well
The best way is to get it over there is human courier ( with authorization - although this too is a grey area as what Indian passport meant to say is within India but it's not mentioned clearly so folks take it )

I had to go twice to India to drop and pick my parents passport as once it's seized, you are finished

Is this common with all passports? If just Indian passports, why?
