FEDERAL SKILLED WORKERS AND PROFESSIONAL PROGRAM SUMMARY
Step 1: Go to www.cic.gc.ca
Step 2: Click on English, then click on immigrate and locate Federal Skilled Worker Program (FSWP).
Step 3: Check by clicking eligibility- Who can apply: http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/immigrate/skilled/apply-who.asp
Step 4: See if your profession is among the 50 listed occupations
Step 5: If it is there, check out what is expected of you in that profession by using the 4-digit code in front of the profession on the NOC 2011 description. http://www5.hrsdc.gc.ca/NOC/English/NOC/2011/Welcome.aspx
Step 6: If you can do 70-100% of the main duties inclusive of the lead statement role, you can now apply to the FSW program after carrying out a self assessment of yourself based on the following 6 factors (AGE, EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, LANGUAGE, ADAPTABILITY, and ARRANGED EMPLOYMENT).You must score 67/100- http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/immigrate/skilled/apply-factors.asp
Step 7: You will have to write the IELTS exam. You must have a score of at least band 6.
Step 8: Send your educational transcript for evaluation in Canada to either WES, ICAS, etc-http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/immigrate/skilled/assessment.asp
Step 9: Fill all the relevant application forms, get references from previous and current employers and tick the checklist for the FSW. You will need to submit 6 passport photos for yourself and all family members-http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/immigrate/skilled/apply-how.asp
Step 10a: Pay your fees- https://eservices.cic.gc.ca/efee/efee.do
Step 10b: http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/immigrate/skilled/funds.asp .Get your bank statements with a balance of about N2, 700,000(Nigerian) for a family of 3 as an example as this depends largely on the family size. http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/pdf/kits/forms/IMM5620E.pdf
Step 11: Go for police report at Alagbon, Lagos, Nigeria and all other places you’ve resided over 6 months. For Non-Nigerians, please get the PCC (Police Character Cert) from the relevant authority in your home country.
Step 12: Finally, envelope Step 7 to 11 outcomes and send to CIC, Sydney, Nova Scotia Canada for further processing.
