Dear All,

I tried to use the link provided by "parlvu" to get a report for my self as I am applying to Citizenship. It consist of four steps. I filled the first step where it require a general Information and data about the person requesting ATIP report, then once you finish and press continue, it took you to next step, "Act and record selection.

Here I am confused, It asks "Please select the act under which you are submitting the request" 1. Access to information act 2. Privacy Act ?? which one I should select? I guess Access to Information act. right?

Then it asks, " which type of records do you wish to request"? 1. Case file 2. Corporate records. So which one to select?

You realize you can't get a list of exits, don't you? Entries only, and likely not full anyway.

Either Act works. You have to pay $5 for ATIA, Privacy Act is free. Privacy Act is only for information directly related to you, whereas ATIA requests can be broader and are often used by journalists, lawyers or government watchdogs.

CBSA now records land border crossing exits to the US...actually CBP records the entries and shares the data with CBSA where such an entry into the US equals an exit from Canada. Canadian citizens and US citizens data not yet collected everyone else has their info with the Feds either side of the 49th!

They may share data, but if it's not released on my CBSA report (and it's not there), chances are CIC won't get it either. Besides US is just one destination. What if I am on trip to Europe? Thus generally CBSA doesn't have a list of exits.

I tried to submit request to CBSA, but I did not understand the question below

Please select the Department where you would like to submit an Access to Information or Privacy request.

should I choose :
1. CBSA or
2. CIC

1. Border crossing data sharing is with the US but this will inevitably be expanded. Refugee claimants data including fingerprints are shared between Canada and 4 other countries...all those asylum shopping be ware! CBSA all have access to flight manifests both in and out so if they want to find someone they can!

2. On what date (month) did you apply for your CBSA entry data?

3. The 'grant authorization' to CIC to get your CBSA data will likely be amended to include all border crossing data than 'entries' before they can show exits in the records they release to you via the ATIP.

Thank you for your explanation. WHat about the question when it says : " which type of records do you wish to request"? 1. Case file 2. Corporate records. So which one to select?

Also , at the stage of "Act & Record" when it says : What type of Information you like to reuest? 1. Note in Electronic file 2. Physical file ...should I choose Electronic file?

Finally in the same stage it ask : File type: then you have to select one ..I selected Immigration file : Permanent residence ..is it right? then I entered the file number as the number mentioned in my landing record. right?

Can we order CBSA border history (entry and exit) or should I wait and this can be done by CIC themselves, if I order the CBSA entry and exit history, will be
1. good or bad thing
2. facilitate or delay my paper processings
