How to notify of a change in sponsor's address?

Hello,

Me and my British wife have recently applied for me to sponsor her in the family class. I sent the application a week ago. We live in the UK now, but I've just got a very welcome (but unexpected) job offer in Canada. I'll be moving within 6 weeks, and I know that CIC need to be notified. There are forms and everything for a change of the applicant's address, but I'm not sure how to go about letting them know of the change in sponsor status?

Any help would be appreciated!

Also cic.gc.ca/english/information/change-address.asp

All of these seem to be to change the principal applicant's address, though, not the sponsor themselves.

cic.gc.ca/english/information/change-address.asp - This page says "change your address," not specifically the sponsor's. Also, would I do it after I move to Canada or beforehand?

Thanks!

since your application is so brand new, you don't have a real way to update CIC on the address change - they'd have no way to match up the information. your UCI/Client ID # will be listed on your AOR and sponsorship approval, once you get either of those you can change it in the online ECAS system quite easily. I did it recently without issues.

until then, I probably wouldn't worry too much about it if your wife is staying back in the UK at your old address. when your wife's file has been transferred to her VO you should send them an email explaining that you've already resettled in Canada. it will be important for CIC to know that you've moved back already and explain what you're doing in Canada to prepare for your wife's move there.

What does VO mean? Will I get an e-mail address to send that information to at this point?

And thanks very much for the clarification -- it's really helpful!

VO is her visa office - which will be London. If you provided an email address in your application CIC will email you your AOR and sponsorship approval letters. In your SA letter they will give you contact information for the London VO, including an email address. Since your wife is the principal applicant, the email about your resettlement in Canada should come from her email address, include the file name and both of your names and date-of-birth in the email you send.

hope that helps :)
