What will we have to do when the time comes? I am staying in the Kitchener/Waterloo area of Ontario with my husband on a visitor visa while my Outland application processes. Once the time comes for me to "land" what happens?

Three options:

1) Drive to a US/Canada land border and "flagpole" (leave and re-enter).
2) Wait until you leave Canada on an international flight and then land when you return.
3) Make an appointment to land at the office within Canada (may take a couple of months to get an appointment).

You can flag pole around the US border at Niagara Falls once you get your COPR in hand. You have to physically leave Canada and re-enter into Canada to activate your landing.

You can make an appointment to land at the local CIC office but that process add months to yout process. Might even hurt it as may end up with appointment scheduled after your medical result expires.

You could land at Sarnia, too, if that's closer. Any large land border station will do it.

Also, if you go the CIC office route, you can register for OHIP etc before your landing appointment with your COPR, so you don't add to the waiting period.

I applied outland and staying in Canada as visitor for last 1 1/2 years.
just got my COPR and called CIC to make app. at local immigration office. (I am in MB by the way and local immigration office is in WPG)
Agent told me that local office would call me in a week( it's been 3 days already)
If I don't get a call, I would call back CIC or just drive to border.

Hi,I' about 25 mins away from you . You can go to Buffalo and flag pole . Their is a small office in Waterloo also .They may be able to get you in quickly. All else fails Niagara falls weekend getaway .

Thank you all :)

I'm in Oshawa and just landed sort of flagpole style in Lewiston. We originally were going to go just to the border but we decided to go for a couple of hours in Lewiston. Really nice quaint town with a mini waterfront. CoPR was no issue at all. We waited maybe 45 minutes because it was rush hour on the way back and a handful of people had been stopped at the border.
