Hello everyone ! I'm finally finished ! Last week I received my CoPR in the mail while visiting my husband in Canada. I have an issue that I need help with so any advice would be greatly appreciated. I live in the states and since I just got approval I need to head back down to my house and get moved out of there. Since I do not plan on keeping much I would like to bring my husbands truck across the border so that I can haul stuff back and use it to clean out my house while I'm there. My husband can not make it down with me anytime soon due to his work schedule. I do have a mini van but I do not trust to bring it on a trip that long again nor can I haul anything with it but kids ! Lol. So getting to my question .. Will I need to bring my van for the first time I go back so it can be put on file or can I bring his truck across and bring all my van information and and grab a form so it can be registered in canada ? I hope I got my situation across.

I haven't done this myself but I'm certain that you can follow through with your plan of bringing your husband's truck first and figure out when to move your van at a later time. Apparently (and other forum members who've done this before can pitch in here) you'll need to fill out a Goods To Follow form from Canada Border Services, also know as Form B4 which can be found here: http://www.cbsa.gc.ca/publications/forms-formulaires/b4-eng.pdf

Good luck.

I think there are problems driving across the border with a vehicle registered to someone in another country (without that person being there), so you may have difficulty using your husband's truck. (I'm sure someone here can give you the exact restrictions). And for your vehicle, if you plan to bring it to Canada you will need to "import" it. The importing process is in addition to declaring it on a B4 (or goods to follow). There are several threads on here that give you all the info on importing your van. The vehicle must be eligible for import and the process is fairly heavy on the paperwork and there are some things that need to be done in advance - you cannot just show up at the border and do everything then.

This thread has great info about bringing a car. http://www.canadavisa.com/canada-immigration-discussion-board/leaving-the-us-to-land-in-canada-in-16-days-anyone-have-time-for-a-onceover-t105182.0.html

Congrats and good luck with the move!

Thanks for the replies. I found a thread that gave the info on what is required. While it seems straight forward, Im wondering if I should save myself the stress and try to sell my vehicle. Any insight on doing so while trying to land ? Is there anything I would have to claim if I sold it ?
