Hi all,

Need some help, my employer has submitted an LMO and I need to get an update on this?

What is the best way to approach this? Is there an email address or contact number to speak to someone regarding LMO's at the HRSDC?

Unfortunately only the employer can get information with your file #. You as an employee cannot speak to HRSDC in this regard at all. Talk to your BOSS.

Thanks Calgary! So my employer now has a file #, however when I called CIC last week to give them the file #, they said they don't update this on my record and that if I don't have an LMO answer within 2 months, that they'll close my work permit application.

I verified this with 2 CIC officers over the phone last week.

What are my options at this stage? Anyone?

I'm afraid that in 4 weeks, CIC will have started to process my Work Permit and without the positive LMO, they will refuse the work permit application I submitted in August.

A friend of mine had the same situation like yours now ...
I guess there are alternatives to your WP ...

1. Pay penalty ($150 if I remember correctly, more or less ...) by not applying visitor visa while waiting for positive LMO, or ...
2. Apply visitor visa now to buy you extra time remaining in Canada legally to aviod penalty while waiting for positive LMO ...

Either ways I suggest to apply visitor visa now if your current WP expires soon ...
Regarding to LMO, you cannot do much thing about it except your employer to track on progress with HRSDC ...

Godspeed ...

:)

I'm pretty sure you can only apply for the visitor or work permit extension BEFORE your Work Permit expires. Right now, I am on Implied Status time...so if it gets denied this time, I will have 90 days to restore my status. This will cost me $350, if I'm not mistaken.....

I'm wondering if I go to the States and back, will I have difficulties getting across the Canadian border?

i think you've done all that you could--honestly. Sometimes, we just have to let go. You've applied for an LMO before yoru work permit expires. You've applied for a work permit before it expires (or will do so) and CIC will wait about 2 months. That is all you can do. You can apply for a visitor visa so that you have at least some status if things take longer than expected. Try to remain positive--i know it's hard, but it's good to do so.
Since you've already done it, how did your employer answer the question that asks if the company plans to "train Canadians citizens/permanent residents for the position(s) for which you are requesting an LMO?"

I'm curious.
