How to convert visitor visa to dependent visa

Hi,

I am working in Canada on work permit, My wife applied for dependent visa but she got a visitor visa & she was told that her visitor visa will get converted to dependent visa at port of entry but it dint happen & she landed as visitor . Now she can stay here only for 6 months even she cannot apply for health card, is there a way i can convert my wife's visitor visa to dependent visa so she can stay as long as i stay & get health card?

1. She applies to Vegreville for a spousal open work permit with a copy of your work permit. Note that your occupation must be in NOC A, B or O for her to be eligible for a SOWP. See: http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/my_application/apply_online.asp

I am a computer software engg i think i am elgible to apply open work permit for my wife. i have two questions

1) I guess open work permit will take bit more time, is they any other option instead of open work permit?

2) Can i apply open work permit online ??

3) I dint find any open work permit, option CIC can u please refer a link were i can apply for open work permit ??

Your wife has to send copies of: your WP and Marriage Certificate even if it's not part of the documents required on the checklist.
