Yeah SetCanada.....I have done dip in IFRS from ACCA, UK only.....this is quite a renowned diploma....you just to clear one exam of accounting. GTG is one institute which provides classes alongwith study material for the same. I didn't take any class but used GTG study material, i think it is good enough to pass the exam. You can go through the following link as to how to register etc. Now you need to register below Oct 15, if you want to take Dec'10 exam.

The exam is a 3 hours descriptive paper....you just need to get 50 marks to pass the exam.

I just found IFRS also offered by The Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales (ICAEW) . The ICAEW Certificate in IFRS is self-taught, and is assessed online in an ‘open book' environment where the official IASB standards and other suitable publications can be used. Candidates will have a time limit of 2 hours to complete the online assessment, and must achieve a score of 70% in order to pass. The assessment comprises 60 multiple-choice test questions drawn from a bank of many hundred such questions.

Panks and psshe do you have any idea about This IFRS as this is a online course and can completed easily on other hand IFRS offer by ACCA conduct exams yearly twice next date is 15 dec 2010 i dunt wanna wait so long
What you guys suggest shall i go with IFRS from ICAEW??

PANKS some usefull information about credit hour for CPA i came to know from ORKUT CPA Community that CA+B.COM will give us 132 hrs some other suggest that it will give us 150 hr from FACS Agency
Im confuse whether to send docs to FACS US or to canada ...

I had been given 150hrs from FACS USA while i had applied 2 yrs back for CPA exams...Is the 132 hrs valid for our Canada purpose and who has given it? Also if Canada does not accept anything assessed from FACS then its of no use..we would still be few hrs short..do you think its a good idea to mail people from the CA insti in Canada personally for getting better response regarding this..

I could not figure out your msg abt IFRS on the cpanet, guess you have a different name there..anyway i will go ahead with GTG for IFRS course, as i think it has more value also i need some time to prepare alongwith my current job and domestic responsibilites ...plus i think we have time in hand as our status hasnt changed at all

I went through your messages as given above on IFRS & credit hours....here is my opinion on both.

IFRS: I am not aware of the the course being offered by ICAEW...hence can't comment about the value/content of the course....however from my personal experience from ACCA...I think this is one of the most complete course on IFRS....the content & quality of the course are good.....So I would suggest passing from ACCA would be a good idea....and again....I don't know anything about IFRS from ICAEW so my comments should not be read in the context of that course...

Credit Hours I think the basic requirement we all three are looking for is...how to transfer our CPA score to a state board which has reciprocity with CA Institute in Canada plus 150 hrs of semester credit so that we can appear for CARE exam in Canada and be a Canadian CA....so it does not matter whether we send our docs to FACS or Canada....what matters is, from where we can get 150 hrs credit easily....after reading Setcanda's comments...it seems like FACS looks a easier option....this is just a thought

But my doubt is if Canada will accept any evaluation done by FACS as FACS would be a US agency ..is it not better to get something from the local agency in Canada ?or is it optional? Where can we confirm this?

see if you check this link http://www.icao.on.ca/Admissions/MembershipCandidacy/1011page1663.pdf in which Chartered Accountant of Ontario(ICAO) Clearly mentioned that STATE BOARD OF ACCOUNTANCY WITH WHICH ICAO HAS RECIPROCATY AND WHICH HAVE ADOPTED THE 150 HR EDUCATION REQUIREMENT PRESCRIBED BY THE NASBA AND AICPA
That means if you have 150 credit hours which is recognised NASBA and required BOARD than you are eligible for reciprocaty to give CARE exams to become CHARTERED ACCOUNTANT OF ONTARIO.Facsusa is recognised by NASBA AND AICPA ..So if we have 150 credit hours
recognised by FACS and required board for example michigan we are eligible for CARE exams
Im very much agree with PANKS FACS will be the best source for evaluation as our first motto is to give CARE exams and later on we can evaluated our degree once we are in canada if required. Im very much in doubt whether to go with FACS or Canadian agency but definately ill send my docs to FACS USA only.
As per michigan board they can transfer our score easily ofcourse we have to fulfill 150 hrs,
Psshe could you please confirm whether so able to get 150 hrs with Bcom& CA only??

IFRS from ICAEW is well recognised that is confirm by my friend who had done it so ill go with that only ..

Setcanada, i remember i had to get evaluation done from FACS before starting my CPA papers from CO board, therefore I have a letter from FACS regarding 150 hrs ...did you guys not do this at your time?..but i would still apply for a fresh one as the letter i have from FACS is around 3 yrs old...

No I didt evaluated my degree before Appearing CPA from Colorado.Unlike Other Board CO board recognised Indian CA and no need to evaluate academic and professional degree
Pshhe you said that you already evaluated degree from FACS do they have any expiry date on evaluation letter?
And Kindly confirm did you receive 150 credit hour on the basis of Bcom & CA?
Pshhe if ur FACS Evaluation letter still valid i will suggest you to tranfer CPA score from Colorado to Michigan ASAP
Because their rule about reciprocaty with Canadian Institute of Chartered Accountant of onatrio may change any time this was confirm by my friend in canada

Setcanada, i confirm that i have the FACS evaluation only on the basis of Bcom, CA and CPA (CO board)..I worked in US for sometime and had to prove my accounting background/hrs. and CPA certificate while applying and getting a job at some place...at that time i got my evaluation done from FACS...It was done after i became a CPA and not before my CPA, sorry about my earlier quote...memory loss

FACS has clearly mentioned that i have completed 150 hrs...there is no expiry date on this letter issued to me but it was done in early 2008...

Therefore please can you suggest the website giving me details about how to transfer scores to Michigan? i guess i will start preparing for it when i get some time...Thanks very much for cautioning me...

What is your CPA license status?..i have an inactive status and think that scores cannot be transferred to a different state if the status is not active..in that case FACS evaluation i have is of no use...whats your suggestion?..where will i get exact details abt transferring to Michigan?..just wanted to check if i am looking at the correct website?...

i dunt have Colorado CPA Licence and after evaluation from FACS ill will apply for licence.
Pshhe you right we need to get licence to transfer our score thats what i come to know from CO Board to be 100 percent sure note down mail id of concern person bayess@michigan.gov,awilliams@nasba.org mail them and counter check what they say about transfer of score.
