Seemed that many people here are interested how much cash or funds should taken in hands when they pass the customs for the first time, me too.
So wondering if the amount of money I take with me is less than $10000, for example, like $4000-$6000, is it possible for the immigration officer refusing me to enter into Canada for the reason of lack of living funds?

I arranged almost five hours to change the airline from Vancouver to Montreal, is it enough for me to finish all the affairs in the immigration office?

Hope some nice persons could share their experiences and tell us some details about how to pass the customs from Vancouver.

Yes - it's possible to be refused landing if you are supposed to have proof of funds and can't show proof of funds to meet the minimum required.

sooo. normally how much money should I take on hands? I don't want to take a money order because I have to pay for the transfer fees for the bank, buy with more than 10 thousand US dollars on hands, not only I have to declare, but also it's very risky. Someone could give me some better idea?

To be on safer side you should carry the minimum fund requrements as avialable at CIC site for 1,2,3,or more members in the family which has recently been updated e.g for four member family it is now approx 22000$.you can carry cash,TC,DD as alternatives . if u have money more than 10000CAD dollars even in form of TC,DD,Securities or other form you have to declare the same to immigration authorities at port of entry
