How long does it take to obtain a travel document? Enter with visa exempt PP?

Hi,

I will be travelling to Israel and I might need to obtain a travel document. Can somebody please tell me how long that usually takes? I assume it should only take a day, but can someone explain?

Also, if I have a visa exempt passport, and I already have the eTA, can I just enter back in with my visa exempt passport?

You may find that the eTA has been cancelled once you became a permanent resident.

ok I understand.

CIC really screwed up my PR card and its taken over 6 months already. I will be leaving to Israel for a couple weeks, is that enough time to actually get the travel document?
Would you know how long these applications usually take to process?

I believe that we have reports from days to weeks, depending on the visa office and the case circumstances.

Yes. It's getting on the aircraft that's the hard part.

You can check here if your eTA is still active. Even if it says it's active, it could be deactivated at any time. https://onlineservices-servicesenligne.cic.gc.ca/eta/applicationQuery

Without a PR TD and if eTA not active, there is slim to no chance you'll be allowed boarding a plane back to Canada.

Altearnatively you can book a flight to USA and drive across land border into Canada. For this no PR card or Travel doc is necessary.
