How long does employer have to bring foreign worker in?

Just a general question that may have been answered but I couldn't find it.......

Is there a time limit for an employer to bring a TFW? A relative of mine has been granted a Visa and has informed her Canadian employer. The employer doesn't seem to be in any hurry to book airfare for her. Can the employer wait weeks or months before bringing her in?

Obviously, she is desperate to get here as soon as possible and start her contract.

Thanks in advance.

If the employer has applied for an LMO, and the LMO is approved, there is a date there. A start date and an end date. Employee can start whenever but the visa will expire at the end date.

Thanks for your reply.
The LMO was approved and of course it's only good for 6 months. I believe the employer only need start the process of getting the TFW here within that time period. Obviously, the chances of a worker coming within 6 months is next to nil.
The contract won't begin until she gets her work permit. I believe the process is different now than when I came, although I'm not sure. My question implies we are well past the LMO stage.
Specifically, I'm asking if there is any sort of time consideration with respect to getting her here.

For me,
When the LMO arrived at the employer and he forwarded it to me, I printed it, then I just went to the border with my wife and got a new paper attached to my passport and then just went back and got hired.

if she already got her visa, she can fly in now and will be granted a work permit at the port of entry but she needs a place to stay until she starts working and getting paid.
if she is unskilled or semi-skilled job and the employer needs to buy her airfare then just wait till her employer is ready to have her in payroll, maybe its the slow season now due to winter and the christmas/new years holidays.
please not that her work permit will be valid for the duration specified in LMO and job offer starting from the date specified in job offer,so definitely this waiting period while she is not even in canada working yet is still counted towards her job offer lenght.
keep in kind that since she is not in canada yet and the work permit is not issued yet,if the employer calls service canada and cancells the LMO she will be denied entry when she arrives in canada even will valid visa and job offer because the job does not exist anymore.

good luck to her :)

I appreciate your reply. It's a fast-food job she will be working at. Her employment contract is the standard 2 year offer. The contract does not specify a date when the job begins. It simply says immediately.
I believe you are correct in that it is a slightly slower time of year for her employer. I guess what I'm asking is, should we panic if it's February and airfare has still not been booked for her?

Thanks!

you are welcome,

well if its going to take a long time then for sure she has to rise a red flag but if only for a 2,3 or 4 weeks then it should be fine but my only advice for her is to keep in touch with her employer and keeps him updated and posted that she is waiting.
