How long after you met face to face, did you get married?

This is based on another discussion by another poster....

Anthropos: {EDITED}

I have a strange situation, and it's really starting to stress me out. My husband and I (he is the sponsor) started dating in August of 2008. We became engaged in April of 2009. We got married in August of 2010.

Here's the tough part. They don't know we're married. My husband insists that here in Canada people just don't get engaged, and certainly not married, as quickly as we did. He would feel embarrassed to admit that he got married so quickly.

So I wanted to conduct a little survey on the forum to kinda figure how soon after people got married after physical contact.

Me:
Hubby and I met June 2009, Engaged Feb 2010 and Married May 2010. All the time this was long distance eh. Appx 1 year. But we talked online from June 2008 thereabouts.

We were long distance the whole time, except for a couple short visits by me and a 4 month visit by my husband (the applicant) here July - November 2010. I didn't think officially marrying would make a difference in how we felt, but the distance is SO much harder now than it was before (or maybe that's the result of the four months of knowing how good it could be...)

Engaged June 2009
Married 30 Dec 2009

Married almost one year to the date we first met, although we chatted online for almost a year before meeting and the year between meeting and marrying all long distance, except for a number of visits me to Canada and him to UK. Oh and there is a 12 year age difference between us.

I think two years between meeting and marrying is fine and not half as quick as quite a few other people I know, not even on this forum.

met on-line through a matrimonial website Nov.05/08
met face to face Jan.07/09
married Jan16/09
temp. res. visa refused x 3 re: section 179.
perm. res. visa refused Jan.27/10 accused of marriage of convenience
appeal filed Mar/10
still waiting to hear back for appeal date to be set.

so... the answer would be 9 days after face to face meeting.

the girl i met was the exact same person as she described herself in our letters. the IO stated the concern that the time was so brief between meeting and marrying as one of the causes to invoke an interview along with 3rd marriage each and 11 years age difference.

that was not brought forth in the denial letter. they insisted that we did not share a language. we insited that we shared two language between us. we have found that it was easier and more fulfilling to communicate between ourselves, communication with immigration has proved protracted and difficult if not almost impossible.

we conducted our own interviews with each other. it was our love and our lives on the line that we were protecting. we committed instantly after meeting. immigration spent an hour to confirm their concerns and to develop a few more. it was not an interview, it was a lecture and an ambush.

we have past the point of interviewing each other, past the point of thinking about how we are both concerned with if our relationship is genuine and we are years now into enjoying our luck to find such compatible and perfect partners. we still have to write about it and get ready to defend ouselves against the personal bias of the IO and immigration lawyers. we have just celebrated our second anniversary together. ( that should read our second anniversary enduring this forced separation) we are delighted with our marriage and with our relationship.

i wish i could help your husband get over his feelings and his thoughts. as canadians we should feel free enough to follow our hearts in accord with the dictates of our personalities and predilections.

Hmm this will be our third marriage and 23 year difference but we spend a lot of time together and still are not married almost a year after meeting face to face so here's hoping for no denial.

* began yapping online in July 2009
* met in person in November 2009
* between November 2009 and August 2010 (when I came to Canada for what turned out to be a permanent stay, although that wasn't our intention... at all :)) spent about 2 months of "real time" together visiting; everything else was long distance
* married more or less on an impulse in October 2010

So just under a year, with 4 visits between us and 4 months in the same physical space. And not even my hub's very old school Canadian parents thought it was weird :)
