Hello,
I have 425 points for the express entry in Canada. I read that Ontario is providing provincial nomination for people with at least 400 points in the CRS. So, how likely someone with 425 points to secure provincial nomination in Ontario ?

Some people will disappoint you on this forum. However, you need to remain positive.

Currently OINP has stopped sending PT NOI since Feb. 2016 (except for French skilled applicants).
As per the updates on OINP website in May 2016, they will resume sending PT NOI from Nov./Dec 2016 onwards.
With 425, you are likely to receive PT NOI from OINP when they resume. Candidates with even exact 400 CRS points have received PT NOI in the past.

Currently, while waiting for another few months, you may choose to improve your language scores so that you can improve your score above 450 or 460 CRS points.

Hey, thank you so much for the information. I would like to know little more about the system if you don't mind. So, is that certain to get provincial nomination in Ontario if you have at least 400 CRS points and fulfill other requirements for the express entry ? Or, there are a lot of competition as well for getting this nomination for people with at least 400 points ?

there is approximately 8000 applicant in the EE pool with score higher than 425 as per the EE year-end report. If you assume that 50 per cent (which is more than i expect)of these applicants already have shown interest in the province of Ontario by choosing it while making EE profile, that gives you about 4 thousand applicant eligible for OINP PT and since they allocate around 5k of invitations every year. So i think your chances are very high.
And that's what i'm counting on because i'm working on my IELTS score and hoping to reach CRS of 429 before next October. Anyway keep hoping and try to increase your score if possible. :D

As long as you are patient and wait until OINP opens back up around November or later, there is definitely a chance you can get Invited to apply.

It all depends on whether Ontario keeps the rules the same as they were when they reopen.

For now, patience is your friend.

In the meantime, i would look into other PnP programs or if there are other ways you could increase your score, like a better language score or something else.

Is there better option for other provincial nomination ?

Currently, there arent too many open PNP programs as most reached their quota for the year but depending on your NOC there are still some options.

NBPNP still is open to certain NOC categories and if you spoke French, there are also still some programs open for that as well.

Without knowing anything else about your profile, I cannot give you any more specific help but I think its definitely worth it if you check out all provinces to see if your NOC might be one of the in demand ones for example.
