Hi, I'm living here in the Philippines. I am 18 years old, a college student(2nd year). My sister, a naturalized canadian citizen married to a canadian citizen and has two kids, is inviting me on my newphews birthday this coming december. I already have my documents and payments ready. What I want to know is how high is my chance of getting a visit visa? Thanks in advance.

Hi!

You did not write much about yourself, so I am not sure that anybody will be able to answer your question. Anyway, according to the information from CIC and also from various immigration forums, usually the best chances have people who has: good travel history/stable financial status/good work/family ties in their home country/property and so on.
I think it s good that you are a student. It might be a strong reason to come back - to finish your study. But again, it depends on the whole situation.
Make sure that U prepared all the documents thoroughly and carefully. Add some proofs of your relationship with your sister and her family-that would be helpful. Make a good and clear cover letter where you explain everything about the purpose of the visit, your relationship with your sister, your current status in your country and why you will come back home. It s like, you know, try to put yourself on the place of officer and answer all questions he might come up with in your letter.
That will increase the chances. They DO give visas if the application is clear and if the applicant is not lying!
Good luck!

Thank you very much. I will try to do as you say and hopefully have my application approved.

Guys, you seriously think that they reject people only because of money? Of course, if you show CAD$1000 for 6 months trip - the will. But if you show 35K as DavidSd mentioned here, the reason they rejected for sure is not just money.
I got my TRV visa last year to visit my BF (!!) and I have shown something like $4000 or $5000 on my account, that s it. And apart from that I had an refusal from Canada before. So from the side it could look like i never would be able to get a visa. But I prepared my file case so carefully and neat, with all the documents that can prove my intentions, that I was almost 100% sure that they will approve my application. And they did.
I strongly believe, that if the person got rejected, in 99% that means that he/she failed to present all the necessary documents/the information was not clear/there were misrepresentation and so on. And only 1% it can be a human error from the embassy side.

Pay some attention to your application's file and you will get the visa. That s it.

Do you have any ties back to Philippine?
Do you own land, have a kid or a job?
Without a strong tie to your country, high chance the visa will be denied.
Also having your sister in Canada is a negative for you
