How early to enter?

Anyone has any suggestions on how early it is possible to enter Canada, before the start of classes?
I just got approved today so I haven't seen my passport yet.
My classes start August 28th but I would like to enter as soon as possible to look for a school for my son.

You can enter Canada legally now that u have got ur visa, If they ask on airport U can show them funds to show that you got everything covered and u can tell that I gotta settle here with weather or give some sensible reasons.

Hey daniel firstoff all congratulations for ur approval i have also applied on 29th march for september hope i m gonna get my visa by end of this month im planing to bit more earlier actually there is an festival call summer shaw on 22nd to 27th may near my college that would be great to be invollved in community and make new friends and goin in summer is better i am gonna carry 3k to prove i have enough money to last long whats ur views on this??

As much as I know, it is totally up to the officer at the border. As others mentioned, you have to convince him/her that you have enough fund to cover your extra period of stay -besides the amount required for your study period- and you do not intend to work illegally this while.

Not sure if this matters for you, but your university offered insurance is not likely also to cover more than one month before the start of your classes. Thus, you may have to purchase an insurance to cover this period.
