Hello,

OINP sends invitation to people who have a score higher than 400 points, I understand that but do they send invitation to all of them, or is it still possible to not to get an ITA? Also, how do they process all of those applications? First come first served?

I asked the same question on this forum sometime back. Unfortunately nobody knows if it is FIFO/LIFO, or if it's rank wise. Some people did not receive pt notification despite having a score of >400, but it was a technical issue (when they created a new profile they got the notification). For this year, let's wait for OINP to open up. There is a possibility that OINP may change the criteria, or/and the process. Hang in there!

that was the criteria in 2016, no one has any idea what 2017 would look like...
OK so they send PT invite (meaning they are interested in your profile, and should you send xyz list of documents along with fees, they will consider you for nomination) to all candidates with >400 points PLUS you need to select in your EE profile that you wish to be contacted by Ontario if they want to nominate you... that is also important... if you select "i would like to be contacted by all provinces for potential nomination" even that is fine..

they process applications FCFS , usually.... sometimes inland CEC candidates with expiring work permit get preferenance for obvious reasons...

How long does it usually take to be nominated by Ontario? I have seen applicants waiting for a year or can it happen sooner? Asking because I am at 459, so thinking if I should go for OINP or wait for EE scores to come down.

even that depends... in 2016 average time was between 9-12 months...
they are coming up with an online application system where wait time should be less... but you never know...

459 is a good score, but according to me it will take several months before scores drop that low... (obviously this is just based on trends i have seen and not based on actual data)

Thanks for the info. It is difficult for me to decide. I wanted to wait for a couple of months to see if the scores come down, but then I dont want to miss out on OINP if their application process starts sooner than that. :-\

All in all, the whole Canadian immigration experience has become a total disappointment for me. I was not a dreamer anyway when I applied first time last year, but I have never imagined that it would become this much fail. The whole system is based on ambiguity where mostly all you can do is to sit and wait god knows for how long.

With 431 points, we were waiting for OINP and nothing has happened for almost one year. Other provinces have specific requirements which is impossible for people who don't have any connection with Canada. The EE pool is just a waste of time, I was not expecting anything since the beginning anyway.

We are well-educated, high-skilled family but we have not even got close to any nomination during the whole year. I will try Saskatchewan if nothing happens at OINP in one or two months, then I think I will give up and look for another immigration opportunities starting from Australia.

Our enthusiasm for Canada is fading away day by day.

you applied last year ? you should have applied for OINP then... it was available till feb 2016.
EE is a good system if you ask me personally... its not very transparent but its better than some of the other systems i have seen... including the now famous "lottery system" ... how about having a blackjack game to decide if you should immigrate or not.. useless

if you are as well educated , then your score should be in the 470s (if you have masters degree) i wonder where the disconnect is...

anyway good luck with whatever you choose to do :)

I don't want to wait for months in uncertainty anymore. February will be the time for raising the red flag for us.

you should look at australia anyway, and start the process if its not costing a lot of money to start with... why wait 3 months just for the sake of it you know :)

been to australia twice, love that country... if given an option like today, i would jump and apply for it immediately... but alas !!! :( :( (fake tears rolling down the cheeks :p)

Unfortunately I missed the February intake with one month :) EE is only slightly better than the so called "lottery system", and is not that much different than that considering the fact that you don't have "any" idea what's going on and (in my case) no "single" progress in almost one year.

About my education, I have two university diplomas, my wife has master's degree and I have 10+ experience in my field. I lose points only because of my age (35).

Immıgrating to Ontario has always been my dream, since I was a university student. Now I have the chance to do it, but Canada does not seem to be as enthusiastic as I do. :)

Australia will cost a lot from the start. I do not think I can handle Australia and Canada immigration at once mentally and financially. That's why I need to decide first.

But on the other hand, I have all the documents ready for OINP, I spent money and (more importantly) time for it. I don't want to trash all of the effort.

But on February, I definitely will do something. I hope it will be for Ontario. :)
