Australia will cost a lot from the start. I do not think I can handle Australia and Canada immigration at once mentally and financially. That's why I need to decide first.

But on the other hand, I have all the documents ready for OINP, I spent money and (more importantly) time for it. I don't want to trash all of the effort.

But on February, I definitely will do something. I hope it will be for Ontario. :)
We hope so too...Whats your timeline though buddy?

What timeline? I created my EE profile last March and have been collecting documents since then. "Nothing" happens. I wish I had some progress so I could have my cute little timeline. :)

I meant When did you receive PT notification from OINP and when did you apply to them and received AOR?

I don't have notification. Last notification was on February. Nothing happens since March.

Then you need to wait...for the new OINP quota for 2017.

Unfortunately I missed the February intake with one month :) EE is only slightly better than the so called "lottery system", and is not that much different than that considering the fact that you don't have "any" idea what's going on and (in my case) no "single" progress in almost one year.

About my education, I have two university diplomas, my wife has master's degree and I have 10+ experience in my field. I lose points only because of my age (35).

Immıgrating to Ontario has always been my dream, since I was a university student. Now I have the chance to do it, but Canada does not seem to be as enthusiastic as I do. :)
ah ok... well good luck to you... hopefully you should have something concrete before end of next year...

True, which was supposed to happen in November. ;)
Looking at our state we suggest you start looking at Australia...instead...because even if you get PT in 2017, whats the guarantee you'll get the nomination?

Seems to be the only logical choice for us. :(

Australian process is really quick if you have 65+ points. But super expensive. $5k USD for a family with one kid. It's close to $7k CAD. That's for the federal process like EE. Not sure how much extra it would cost for state nominations. Even with PNP, Canada wouldn't cost anywhere close to that.

But few things I like about their system is upper age limit is 32 and more points for work experience (they have something called skill assessment like ECA that validates one's work exp.). So even if one gets older, they have a chance to make up with their work experience (1 year age increment also increments work exp by one year and Aus system awards points up to 8 years of exp) and stand a chance unlike Canada where one cannot compensate for age in any ways. Master degree is not a practical option for everyone as it would involve time, money and effort, where as work experience is something that just keeps adding along with our routine work.

Thanks for sharing. I am going to start applying for Australian immigration as well. Whichever works faster I will continue with that. The part which I didn't like abt it is that I will have to do another ECA as they don't accept WES.

Aus is not so easy they validate work experience with skill assessment which means you need a certain job for which you have studied it will not work this way like if you have studied chemical engineering but working as a accountant or a teacher that is alright for canadian immigration but not for Aus

If you are not working in a field related to your study, they will deduct x years of experience from your overall experience during the skills assessment. The x depends upon the courses you have taken the graduation. If totally unrelated, they may deduct 4 years or sometimes even more from your experience and you could claim points only for the remaining experience. I would say it is still better than losing 30+ points for not having Masters or Phd which completely closes the doors for Canada for many people.

No problem for me. My profile is pretty consistent in that respect. I have my Bachelors, Masters and 7 years of work experience in the same field. I am within their age limit so won't be losing points for that. Only points I would miss out on are I haven't done any Australian things, but I guess rest of the profile will compensate for that.
