Hi everyone
My daughter, who is a Canadian citizen (second generation) has just had a baby, is currently living in the UK and is in the process of sponsoring her family.
This is where we are:
She was pregnant when she sent off the application to sponsor her husband. She has received the initial assessment which was approved. She now has to sponsor the baby who has been registered as a UK citizen. She was initially told she could add the baby to her initial application by just informing the processing center in Canada of the birth, but nobody seems to have the same answer.

1. What form do we fill in to add the baby?
2. Does the baby need a medical? If so, do we have to wait for a response from the processing centre before they send the medical form?
3. Is there another waiting period for initial assessment?
4. We were told today that she needs to fill in the form IMM 1344A Application to Sponsor and Undertaking and Sponsorship Agreement (IMM 1344B)

Any information would be appreciated.

There is information on the changes to citizenship that went into effect in April 2009 at this CIC link. Read through them to determine whether the baby is a Canadian citizen or not, but my understanding is that if your daughter was born in Canada, she will not have to sponsor the new baby. The baby born to a Canadian born citizen is also a citizen, even if born overseas. However, if your daughter was born overseas, and is a Canadian citizen by virtue of having been born to Canadian parents, her baby born overseas will not be a Canadian citizen and will have to be sponsored.

If the baby is Canadian, your daughter should notify the embassy of the birth with a copy of the birth certificate, and then order a Citizenship Certificate for the child to enable her to get the baby a Canadian passport. If the child is not a Canadian citizen, she needs to notify the embassy and they will send the paperwork to add the child to the application to be sponsored. Yes, the baby would need to have a medical done, and will need a UK passport before s/he can be approved for permanent status in Canada. The child would be added to the existing application as an accompanying dependent (Form IMM0008), and would need to be added also to IMM1344A.

Thanks for the reply
Although my daughter is Canadian (through my husband who was born here) she wasn't born in Canada. She therefore has to sponsor her husband and the baby, but has already submitted her husband's application. She needs to add the baby now and was hoping it wouldn't involve a whole new application with the associated waiting times. They currently all live in the UK.
Sorry I wasn't very clear.
