So I'm curious!
I met my now husband on a depression chat room. We've maintained a long distance online relationship for 3 years, and now plan to submit our application in Aug!
Neither of us were looking, it was random and unexpected. The most important night of my existence.
What about you guys?!
That is great SuiGeneris! 8) My wife and I met in a similar way on a forum site for anxiety and depression etc. I hadn't been on the site in awhile, and after a few days of being on there again my now wife messaged me
I was randomly looking at various profiles and peoples comments on the site and my wife noticed I looked at her profile and so she messaged me.. I would have never messaged her myself as she is significantly younger than I am, and also the last thing I wanted in my life was a long distance relationship (been there done that lol)
Anyhow we got to messaging and after a few days I asked her if she'd like to talk on the phone instead and she said yes. We started talking on the phone and just really hit if off and would be chatting for hours and hours at a time, sometimes 10+ hours a day lol. I suggested that she should come for a visit (it was easier for her to come here at the time) and she did, yay! She came here on a one way ticket and the border agent almost didn't let her through, and he actually called me at home to ask some questions. I guess he was happy that our stories lined up and he let her through, whew!
We met in person for the first time at the Moncton airport and it just seemed like a dream and like we had known each other for years instead of just days. Well long story short we figured on her maybe staying for a month but instead we would end up sending off a visitor extension around the 5th month mark of her being here and she was here a total of 364 days.. One week before she went back to Chicago we got married in a super simple ceremony with no one we knew personally lol.. It was just the officiator her husband and her sister as the witnesses and us.
When my wife was back in Chicago for the summer we started working on our forms and documents to apply for her PR, and we were also very worried that they might not let her back in to visit me again as we hadn't submitted anything yet. Well they let her back in no problem after the summer and we would end up applying and having granted another visitor extension, which is now voided by the fact she became a PR on June 15/2015
Here's the timeline and dates lol: She first messaged me June 4/2013 She flew here July 1/2013 and stayed till June 29/2014. We were married June 22/2014 a week before she went back to Chicago. She flew back here again on Sept 13/2014 and we mailed off her PR application which arrived at the CIC mailroom Sept 24/2014. She became a PR on June 15/2015 and is still here to this day <3
