This is why processing times are on the increase.

If CIC would specify their parameters more clearly it would make all of our lives easier. If we knew better we could do better! Their information is often unclear, contradictory, ambiguous and inconsistent. Not user friendly at all & don't even get me started on the call centre agents. 10 agents = 10 different anwers or more often "non-answers". If you get a good one on the phone - ask ALL of your questions, and your friends questions and so on and so on....... ;D

I happened to read on another thread that the country specific guide for Pakistan (I think) actually tells people to limit their photos to 20 maximum. CIC has been doing this job for many, many years, using our taxpayer money. Applicants are basically new to the process each time so it makes sense to me that if CIC used a tiny portion of our money to make their processes and systems more efficient we could all benefit. My 2 cents for today.

Btw, my application was on the more efficient side, because my hubby and I did not even own a camera until 3 years into our relationship and my day job is very paper intensive so I felt very comfortable with making our package clear and easy for the IO who gets it. I hope

Fee schedules that don't include the RPRF but tell you to wait to be told to pay it but advise you that paying it upfront will speed up the processing time. The list goes on.

I'm thinking of starting a petition to have Jason Kenney removed as Minister for CIC.

Wow, after reading some of these posts, I feel I did not give enough information. I just gave about 50 or so various photos, an extra wedding invitation we had, an invoice from the venue where I had my wedding, a welcome letter from the resort where we had our honeymoon, a few boarding passes (my trips to see her and vice versa), a printout of skype call records for a month, a printout of a blog entry by my wife's author friend who attended and wrote a blog entry on our wedding, and maybe one or two hand written letters. Hope it is enough!

Hey CJG, you would have millions of supporters starting right here with our forum friends. I do not think CIC is even strategic enough to plan their "disorganization" it comes very naturally to them. Kind of like being born with a gift, only the exact opposite, an "ungift"

In my experience with government when the regime changes so does the application of policy. The problem is that some policies are so entrenched in the system that applying new ones don't work. You then end up with a policy written one way and then exercised very differently.

I'm still new here but i wanted to share experiences with people going through this process, I never thought it will take me all this time have everything together and still having finishing. But like I say it helps me a lot see what's going on. I'm from Mexico and my husband is sponsoring me but he hates paper work so i'm pretty much gathering all the information for both of us :-X

When I was still in Canada with my fiance, I wanted to make a photo album of our relationship (I even bought the photo album), but it seemed I never found the time for it.
Once we (I!!) started to gather our stuff for the application and got into the pics, I just LOVED to do it.
Talking about every picture and trying to remember the names of the places we've been to and finding them on Google Maps (Thank you, Google People!!!!) was incredible. I just lived all those moments all over!!!!

You know it actually was fun hahahaha had a fold out table set up in my room and all the papers layed out in order. I took screen shots from fb, skype, sms, and just reading all our conversations again was great and had a few laughs too. at that time we had 124,000 messages on facebook so it took awhile to search thru the history and find what i could print and use. all together took me about 2 weeks to get all the proof of relationship together with translating and sorting.

Mine as well. I had to email mine the links for each form he needed to fill out, then help him fill them out. If I hadn't helped him, I would be sponsoring myself to Canada 8)

I had to prepare the entire application, go to his country and drag him to Internet cafes, ask him questions, type in his answers, get him to sign, fly home, double check and apply - good thing I love him so much . To be fair, he has many talents I do not possess, that is why we are such a great team.

I had to prepare the entire application, go to his country and drag him to Internet cafes, ask him questions, type in his answers, get him to sign, fly home, double check and apply - good thing I love him so much . LOL! so i'm not the only one haha, unfortunately I can't go to Canada so I'm going to have to trust him in doing his part, well I'm helping him filling some forms online, but all the documents he need he has to gather those. I'm sure he'll do his best =)
