While there will always be the rare exception, this is not a realistic option for most people.

I am sure there is at least 1 person who lives in Detroit for the cheap housing and comes over to Canada to work on a daily basis, it’s just not feasible for the masses.

That 1 guy must have a very niche skill like Google/Facebook creator that's why he is not able to find a job in world's largest economy.

But for others Niagara/near Niagara will happen if salaries dont keep up with rents.

just FYI: Toronto has now surpassed Vancouver as costliest city.

salaries not keeping up with housing cost are a bigger issue in other regions versus Niagara or St Catherine’s.
