My husband and I are both in Canada - he's ona post-graduation work permit that expires later in the fall, I was born here. We sent in the whole package for his permanent residence application uner the "Spouse or Common-Law Partner in Canada Class" (by express-post, so I know it was delivered on Sept 9.)

We haven't yet received any acknowlegement of receipt, which is making me antsy, particualrly since we included a request for extension on his permit - though that may not be important becasue he'll have implied status once i'm approved as sponsor?

What's gto me worried jsut now is that I was double(/triple/quadruple)-checking the processing times for the sponsorship part of the application, and I noticed that the times are listed under the Mississauga processing centre - but we sent the entirety of our package to Vegreville, as per the document check-list and the CIC instruction booklet we were working from.

So my question is: have we messed this up somehow, or does the sponsorship part of the application get automatically forwarded to Mississauga (and if so, how much time should I expect that to add to processing times), or what?

Hopefully someone can put my mind at ease here...
(Thank you)

Maybe one of the senior people can clarify, but I was sure that all applications were sent to Mississauga for sponsorship processing BEFORE they forwarded it to the respective offices.

If you are applying for In Canada Class, the application is sent to Vegreville.
You can see under "CPC Vegreville - Permanent Residence Applications - Spouse or Common–Law Partner Class" the process time.

Dont worry you sent your application to the right place :D Vegreville wont send AOR for another 8-9 months..unfortunately as you applied inland your in for a long wait! Sponsorship approval and AIP will be about May/June 2011..

As for your Husbands Post Graduation Work Permit, I would call CIC call centre and tell them that its in your application..You should have mailed it separately..its the Open-Work Permit application that should have gone in your Sponsorship/PR application..however as Vegreville does have the application to extend his post grad- work permit yes he will have Implied Status under the conditions on his Work Permit until CIC says otherwise! Just give them a quick call and they will confirm whether it needs to be retrieved from the application..

Hope this is of some help to you

Thank you all!

As to the Work Permit, I believe I'm ok on that. The post-graduation work permit is an open work permit, and what went in the package was the "Application to Change Conditions/Extend my Stay" with the PR application given as the reason.

Ahh ok..then dont worry about it..you have done the right thing, and your husband can continue to live and work in Canada until they have processed his extension and said either yes and issued an extension or no and sent a refusal letter..He would not be considered as working illegally whilst waiting for an answer.
