hopefully a simple question for additional family information

hello all,
a quick question regarding the form additional family information please.
it says at the top, the form is to be filled by the principal applicant, the spouse, and any dependants over 18, and they must complete their own copy of the form.


so obviously the form must be completed in its entirety by each one of the above described people.

however, when you go back over the form to refill it from the sponsors point of view (after first filling it from the principal applicants point of view), the information boxes are still formatted to the principal applicant. is it acceptable to just place the sponsors name in the applicant box? i dont imagine CIC taking this as an incorrect format, as theres little other choice?

The Sponsor does not complete that form. It is a generic form and the "spouse" would be if an applicant's spouse was not a Canadian citizen/spouse.

I know it's confusing, but check out the Sponsor's checklist and you will see that this form is not listed, so it's not required by Sponsor.

EDIT... Yes, the Principal Applicant is required to complete this form as it is listed on the checklist. I was just answering your question regarding if the spouse/sponsor needed to complete the form.

It certainly needs to be completed by PA - the one being sponsored.

Using the guide to complete the forms certainly makes it easier....

This form must be completed by:

You, as the principal applicant,
Your spouse or common-law partner (whether accompanying you to Canada or not), and
Your dependent children aged 18 or over (whether accompanying you to Canada or not).

i agree with both of you, but the sentence, this form needs to be completed by the PA, the SPouse, anyone over 18 etc compounds my initial confusion. also the sentence of each of these must complete their "own copy of this form" muddys the waters further.
But there is nothing on the document checklist, as you mentioned, as to the sponsor having to complete the form, so I guess that somewhat solves it. but ya gotta agree, the way CIC formats the sentences, it is not at all clear what they are asking.

oh well, thanks for the help, pointing out the doc checklist was the winning argument here, thankyou for helping me with this madness, its gonna take years of my life haha ;D :-X
