Yes, you should be hearing something very soon.

I still can't believe how fast it went...basically 2 months for approval. Is that not a record?? I like the fact that what we originally submitted was accepted without requesting any additional documentation. That makes me proud...perhaps I am in the wrong line of business?? :p

Good luck to those who are still waiting...your time will come very soon!

Yes, good luck to all. We hit sometimes an emotional wall and can't wait longer but there is always a end. Can't wait to get the message from my wife that she got a slip in her mailbox to pick her passport from the post office. Guess around mid October from what you experienced FS. Would give us a month to land.
Time to think about her getting accustomed to Canada. It's all then in our hands.

I see a lot of quick applications coming from Hong Kong. Congrats to all! FS, you helped me out in the past, so very happy to hear it all went smoothly.

My application went like this:

July 12th Sponsorship received
July 16th Sponsorship approved
August 22nd Hong Kong received application (a hiccup here as it first went to Beijing)
September 24th Conditional VISA Ready Letter
September 25th Mailed out VISA (used EMS, mistake, very slow)

Just wondering if you guys received a "Conditional VISA Ready Letter" and if this basically means everything is a go....should I be worried? Happy? Start packing?

"Pending a final assessment of admissibility criteria to ensure that all requirements have been met, your permanent resident application may be ready for approval and visa issuance in the near future. In order to finalize your application more quickly, we are requesting your passport(s) at this time.

You must submit your passport(s) to this office within 45 days of the date of this letter in order to finalize your application. Read and follow the important information and instructions set out below.
"

What kind of note did you guys get notifying you to send out your VISA?

Cheers!

We received the exact same letter. I don't think it's 'conditional'. If you turn to the back of page one, look at the bottom right hand corner. Do you see "Visa Ready"? There is also a box on the back of page one with information for new immigrants and it starts out with "Now that you are on your way to Canada...". I am 99.99% sure that when you get that letter from HK, it means the visa has been approved. My case is a good example of this...after sending my wife's passport, first her address changed to our future Canadian one, then a few days later 'decision made' on e-cas.

So, you will definitely get the visa...

Hey guys,
My wife got a call today at 10 am china time from Hong Kong visa office. Just 4 days after she had sent in her passport and another document requested last week and that despite the holiday beginning this week. Her medical expires on the 15th of November. They said her Visa is approved and they asked her if she can land before the expiry date. She would have to redo medical if not and they would extend the visa for another 2 months in such case. She told them she will discuss it with me and they told her to send a email to the visa office with the decision. Of course we decided to have her land before the 15th of November.
So I guess our case is done. Visa issue date verbally today but officially within next few days, landing on Nov. 14th. I must say, I am impressed with the HK visa office. They cared enough to ask our preference, work.ed super fast and seem to be organized enough to get the mail quick to the appropriate officer.

We are among top 20% in processing time for Hong Kong and it is all because we did a good job putting our application together. We had 13 lbs of material, forms, photos, correspondences and evidence for our relationship and it showed that the more you can proof and show that the love relationship is genuine, the better. Our case is a normal case. I was divorced, she single, i have two kids that are with their mom. We met online Oct. 2010, met in Zhuhai China Jan 2011, married June 2011 ( without any of my family being able to attend), Applied April 2012 after taking too long to get the application started and put together, Sponsorship approved June 2012, Start processing Application in Hong Kong on August 29th, doc and passport request same date, doc and passport sent in 26. Sep. 2012, approved verbally October 4th.
Thanks all for the support, encouragement and well wishes. Every application will get a decision sooner or later and its worth every day of waiting.
Good luck to all.
I will stick a bit around and maybe update further as I know how it feels when one is waiting.

Congrats!!

More like the top 10%! Both our cases were processed super fast! By the way, what does your wife's e-cas show?

I agree, the HK visa office is very professional and efficient. I am extremely satisfied with the level of service.

I have an issue to post here and maybe get some insights.
Topday I received a letter form HK, which was a copy as the iriginal was sent to my wife, but she did not receive it yet. It is dated Sep.26, and has HK stamp Sep. 28.
It states that in order to continue my wife's appliocation she:
- Has to complete new medical examination for herself and her son with instruction enclosed in her letter and
- Complete an attache mailing address form as they will use that address to return her passport.
She has 45 days from the date of this letter to complete the requirements.
They also say that they may conduct verification with the local government or issuing authorities of her documents. "We will not tolerate misrepresentation or fraud and your application WILL be refused if you provide us with false information." - this was a quote from the letter - is this a standard letter ?

I think the fact that they requested her to redo her medicals means that they will issue her the visa, is this a logical thought ?
Otherwise why would they request this again. If they would have intended to reject her visa, they would have simply returned her passport which is with them since the interview on June 20.
Any insights ?

It is a very good sign. Medical and address labels and you will get visa. The misrepresentation sentence could be related to the fact that her ex still was registered under her address and other things you know of. They just want to make sure that it is clear that they will not tolerate fraud. One thing that is unclear is why they ask for her sons medical. Is he included in the application?
I would redo medical and supply them with her address. They will issue her visa after that. Heads up. At least there is progress.

I wondered the same thing, why would they request to redo the medical for her son, as her son is in her application, but will not accompany her as her son is in her ex-husband custody, and her son had the medicals done in July 2011. Anyway I will send her money for both so she can do that ASAP and send them everything they need.
Maybe the Sun will be shining on my street before Christmas !

It will. Remember what I said 2 weeks ago in my pm?
I guess they want her sons medical as he is someone she would be eligible to sponsor at later date?

Yes, that is correct. But we already mentioned in her initial application that her son will not accompany her here, so to me that medical for her son from last year should be good enough. Anyway maybe this is the requirement, I do not know and I am not going to question it, she will just do both and send everything back ASAP.

One of the members of my wife's QQ group had decision made on the same date as us and she has already received her passport back. We expect to receive it this week...for sure!!

We already started preparing for the move by clearing our bookshelf and closets. When I look at the empty shelf, it makes me feel excited because I know this is finally the end of my time in China!!
