The only odd thing is that e-cas still shows 'in process'....I wonder why they wouldn't have updated it to show 'decision made'??

In my experience it seems to take time for them to update status in e-cas.

But the address changing to our Canadian address means that the visa has been approved, right?

It is clear that they are working on it. Ecas might change again within short time to decision made. Guess when they send the passport and COPR out.

The PPR indicates that the visa has been approved. I suspect that someone updated the address from the paperwork you submitted and that someone else will print the COPR and the TRVand once everything is really done it will change to "DM".

My wife's current home address in e-cas now shows our future address in CANADA!!

Hi Everyone,

1 quick question; if I want to write to my MP, to which one do I write: to my Provincial MP or to the federal MP ?

The federal MP happens to be the Finance minister (Mr. Flaherty), and my provincial MP is his wife. My son actually volunteered for his wife in her campain, few years ago.

Thank for ny reply,

Marty

Federal. Immigration is managed by the Federal government, not Provincial. I suppose you could write to your Provincial MP, but they're not going to be able to do much on your behalf.

Thanks, Marty! If the visa was issued on September 27, I think this might be one of the fastest processing times out of HK. Just over 2 months for approval and visa issuance (in passport). I really thought it would take months to complete...I am still going to order the CAIPS notes to see what is written about our application...very curious!

Before contacting your MP, I'd send a case specific e-mail to HK. They have answered both e-mails I sent very quickly. You need to find out what is causing the delay. It could be a simple case of your file being with a slow visa officer...but still, you deserve to know what is going on...

More movement...e-cas has been updated again...this time with DECISION MADE!!! Here is what it shows:

We received your application for permanent residence on April 13, 2012.

We started processing your application on August 30, 2012.

Medical results have been received.

A decision has been made on your application. The office will contact you concerning this decision.

What does it mean by 'The office will contact you concerning this decision'? Does that mean they'll call us or something? Or does it mean that they are sending the passport back with the visa?

Surely this is positive, right? My wife's current home address is still showing our future Canadian address. I feel nervous...the part about the office contacting us makes me wonder...or am I just being paranoid?

Thanks,
FS

Paranoid. You ae almost there. You will hold the visa on a few days in your hands. Congrats.

This is standard language. In your case it just means that they've issued the visa and COPR.

It takes obviously less than the 20 days to issue visa. There are a few happy faces here. Never thought we would be faster than Beijing.

The numbers published by CIC are misleading for that reason - they are essentially worst case numbers, which is why looking at the information from the open data project is quite illuminating - it shows 20%,30%, 50%, 70%, and 80% numbers while the web site only shows 80% numbers.

There are some who are fortunate and are in that 20% number. Simple application, no real issues. But the moment it becomes anything else, it takes more time.
