2) Right of Permanent residence Fee (CAD490) hmmm. well, then so far, it'll be CAD1000 for the initial application fee + this fee.
The initial applciation fee is $550 ($75 for the sponsor, $475 for the applicant). If you paid $1040, it means you already paid the RPRF. If so, you could comply with the visa office's request and pay it again (and then apply for a refund from Mississauga) or you can send them a copy of the original receipt including payment of the RPRF AND contact Mississauga and request that they update your CAIPS/GCMS notes to confirm the RPRF has been paid (send a copy of that letter to the visa office as well and keep copies of everything for yourself.)

Congratulations - it sounds like you're in the home stretch.

Another Whoohoo! Now I'm really rofl!!! I just received another letter from the Visa Office. You know, when we receive an actual letter from these people, my heart is always pounding because it's a small letter, I'm assuming it should be a like 2" thick letter for welcoming my wife to Canada. Anyways, they are asking for
1) Australian police certificate, (this is because my wife studied in Australia for her university degree and this can be time consuming) but they allowed 60 days for this;
2) Right of Permanent residence Fee (CAD490) hmmm. well, then so far, it'll be CAD1000 for the initial application fee + this fee.
3) Passport request.

The above, I'm hoping... is all good news. Because the letter for the request for passport mentions time of travel, visa expiration date, etc. and the most interesting of all.. the last paragraph says... "...it generally takes us 20 working days to issue permanent resident visa documentation and return your passports"

whooohoo!!!
Congrats

I have the experience to get australia police check, it is pretty fast, take around 2 weeks.

Fencesitter,

It was an actual mail. I'm living in Hong Kong, so it wasn't as bad as it is in Vancouver. Letter was dated Sept 4 and we received it yesterday, Sept 7th.

My application was sent back in November '11, Sponsorship approved by May 10, '12, Application to HK Consulate May 15. Then a letter from the them asking for my intent to return to Canada, wife's medical and police report. Then nothing until Aug 31 when my status changed to "in progress". Then this letter dated Sept 7th.

So evidently, the most amount time for the process, for the time being, is the sponsorship check i guess, or they get all the applications from all around the world for process.

Gatca,

I found that Australia has a "Police Liason Office" here in HK one floor above their consulate. Did you go through them or did it application for police check online, or did you actually mail them in Australia?

I thought that applicants from HK were process a lot faster?

Our file was received by CIC-M on April 13. Sponsorship approval on July 13. AOR from HK on July 25. E-cas updated to 'in process' on August 30 (with a line stating they starting processing on August 30). No requests for additional documents (e.g. proof of relationship, proof of my intention to return to Canada, etc.). I sent a total of 2 e-mails requesting more information and both times they replied VERY quickly (the last time they replied in less than 24 hours!).

So, not sure what to expect now...I guess they are basically almost done processing my wife's application. What do you guys think? Do you think we will be getting a passport request soon?

Yeah right! Better not...seriously...the main thing is to have the visa so if we really couldn't stand it here, we have the option of leaving. I need that option...really.

I mailed them to Australia , I dont know if u can do it in HK?
But just a friendly reminder that the consulate just want a name check from australia, so dont go for the fingerprint check.

and if ur wife has lived in melbourne or brisbane, she needs to provide the clearance from transport too

Awesome news, mobeyk! You are nearly finished...super fast!

I hope we hear something this coming week. They started processing my wife's app on August 30. Same timeline as you, so hopefully it will be similar to the AOR (you received it shorty before we did...).

Was it sent via e-mail or snail mail? What does e-cas say?

I must admit, you guys are super fast, I didn't think about the christmas and new years' break when we handed in our application, not that if would of changed anything! But I am happy now that it seems to be getting close. And of course, i'm so happy to have found this forum to vent and find others in similar situations!
