Hi Friends.

I want to thank everyone who did the twitter as we planned. I know no one got any reply yet .. may be soon ..

I feel we should write to our respective MPs and ask them to contact immigration. Who else wish to do the same?
hi i feel it’s useless to push them right now by any means better to wait another 3 to 4 months at least as COVID gets under controlled

I would agree to you if no other programs are being processed at this time.
the programs they are processing is badly needed to improve their economy, like student stream. And for resident Canadian they prioritize family visas. There are still millions who are inside canada but without PR status, so they want them to be settled ist. Because of COVID all this is happening. We will get our turn once COVID is under controlled this is very clear. I used to watch interviews from relevant stakeholders inside immigration we all are at the same boat. I would suggest to be patient by mid 2021. We all will meet in Toronto hopefully in 2021. Party on me. Agree ?

Agreed to some extent but what about the families who need caregivers in this time?

hmm a very valid question. That’s why this program has a least processing times when they planned initially. Now employers are suffering. However there are big number of employers who are trying to bring relatives inside canada that’s why they used this program to help them. If you consider yourself in their shoe you will understand better. Hope for the best bro. Cheers

I agree to some level, absolutely. The family I work for require travel to the US and Europe as part of my role. As of February 2021 I will be on implied status. This meaning I cannot leave the country...not even to do my job. This is problematic for the family who both have their own businesses and to some degree has an impact on the economy. Each case is circumstantial and I do believe they should at least process and give AOR at least and maybe take some time to prioritize certain applications. Like the poor applicants who have been waiting since 2019. I applied in June 2020 so I’m fully aware I have quite the wait. Let’s just hope-by spring this year we have some movement.

I’m waiting since July 2019 18months so far and the wait is torture! I’m lucky to be inside Canada but 18 processing is a joke with no today from Ircc in nearly a year! No communication at all that’s not right or fair! I also contacted my local mp and they said the same as the comment above that the Hccpp isn’t a priority right now and they will let me know if they require anything further! It doesn’t seem fair that we are left to wait and employers left without childcare!
I have ran out of patience many many times in the past 18months but we have to stay positive

But if the hccp is not their priority, why did they make us pay and waiting endlessly. This is not fair at all
Oh I fully agree and I’ve emailed the immigration minister so I will update you guys if I get a response from them! I will keep onto them to try and speed up the process but theirs no guarantees they will even listen

Hello everyone!

I'm also a Nanny on implied status awaiting PR, and what a nightmare this is! I applied back in Oct 2019 for PR/Open Work Permit, got the email to say they have it etc in Jan 2020 and since then nothing. I have used the WebForm and received the standard Covid delays reply, and my Immigration Lawyer also got the same response. A few weeks ago I emailed my local MP, and they were very supportive! They called the IRCC and gave them a month to update them on my application. The IRCC replied this week and this is the information I have been given:

Due to COVID-related backlogs and short staffing, caregiver PR applications are not being processed at all right now. They do not have any timeline for when processing of these applications will begin again. A decision on the Open Work Permit cannot be made until the application is no longer on hold and an initial eligibility decision has been made. Again, there is no timeline for when that might be. In the meantime, existing work permits can continue to be extended. I’m afraid that’s all I can tell you for now.

This is soooooo frustrating and like Nanny7 I will be emailing the Immigration Minister this week!

Stay positive! x
