Hi Friends,

I thought of starting this thread for the bebefit of all Software Engineers/Developers. As We have realized, having Canadian recognition improves the chance of getting a job in Canada. So we had better prepare our selves before making the move.
Lets's talk about how software Engineers while being out side Canada earn some kind of Canadian cetification or Skill assessment done on our academic qalification and experience. what are the IT professional bodies available in Canada where we can get membership to improve our chances of getting a job in Canada. We know in Australia, there is the ACS which assesses the skills of IT People.

So, I invite all the software people to share there ideas and knowledge on this thread so that we all can benefit.

thanks a lot

basically, to practice as a "software engineer",

-it is advisable that you hold accredited Canadian BSc in Computer Engineering program
- join engineering regulratory body (like APEGGA in alberta) as a EIT (Engineer in training)
- many companies hire EITs for entry-level job
- work for four years and you are now qualify to become a full P.Engineer (professional engineer)

IF you don't have a BSc engineering degree from Canadian institution, then you have to contact the local engineer regulatory body and ask for foreign credential evaluation; if you pass the evaluation than you may be eligible to become an EIT in your province

NOTE: If you have masters/PhD degree, it will shorten your time to make a transition from EIT to P.Eng

Hope this helped
