Hello everyone,

Myself Deesha from Gujarat, India. I have completed my Post Graduation in Human Resources and have an experience of 1.5 years. My Husband has completed his graduation and is self employed in our family business in Carpentary trade since last 5 years (the basis of our application)

First of all, I would like to appreciate this site and it's members for being such a helping hand to each other at all times. ;D
Second of all, me and my husband have applied for a PR in January 2012. Meanwhile we have searched many sites for rental appratments, jobs availability, average pay province wise, average expense province wise and many such topics which a newly landed immigrant would hink of. We even searched and have started preparing for documents sets required for SIN and PR card and other social requisities (It might be early, but we two are just being positive and saving the hassle to run at last minute ;))

However, we are confused as to which province to select. We have always been confused between Calgary or Ottawa. It's like we two keeping going vice-versa everytime :p.

We would request your suggestion and help on this ???. If anyone can please help us in this regards, (I have gone through related threads started by newly or prospective immigrants but wanted to know specifically for our case), which province out of the two or any other province is good for us in regards to living, job opportunities, social life, average pay scale/ expenses, taxes, in hand pay, working patterns etc et all.

Your suggestions and help awaited and valued.
Thanks :)

Job Offer........
Pre-Assessed..
Hi Deesha,

I would suggest you to wait till you get your Passport stamped with the Canadian VISA. The reason being the market here changes very rapidly. The info you gather today might not be valid after the next 6 months. Markets change especially while Canada is recovering from the recent North American recession.

But, anyways I will try to provide some info. I came to Toronto since I was in the IT field and Toronto is the place to go for IT Professionals in Canada. Can I know the reason(s) behind your preference for Calgary and Ottawa. Just curious to know. There are many HR Jobs in Toronto. I am not sure about Calgary or Ottawa but I think Toronto has far more jobs than these two cities. But, again there are vacancies everywhere :).

Hey Blueboy,
Thanks for your reply. ;D

Why not Toronto is because we have heard (and searched) it's a little way to expensive :(. Considering the general costs and taxes implied.
Alberta has a different tax system. Being newly landed in Canada, we would surely think of having less debits (cash outflow)and try for better credits (cash inflow) ::).
As suggested by you, surely market changes in every month. But just in case, you could suggest a province better considering my HR and my husbands' Supervisory/ Carpentary job opportunities. We know, that intially we surely have to pick up any job that's available. But if getting your core job is easy in Calagary than in Toronto, so surely we would prefer Calagary (citites cited as example)

But thanks for your reply. And await for further help. :)

Also if you could throw some light on how is the general social life in Toronto, the working style, average earnings etc.

Thanks for your help and reply... :)
