Ok, this is my case.. I'm 23 year old .. citizen of panama city... I got married here (panama) with a Canadian citizen and we were living together for three months. After 3 months her mom had a heart attack so she went back. She is been there a month and half.. Her grandmother gave her her house as our weeding gift ( she's old) ... Now the house needs to be repair and updated... i want to visit Canada for at least a month to help with everything that needs to be done in the house.. WE haven't apply yet for my permanent residence from outland yet since we were going to but things just came up.. right now i'm working but most likely i will have to quit my current job in order to go help. we both will come back to panama since applying from outside is faster and we want to be together.. also we both can get a job here and there she doesn't have one... her parents are willing to help us in everything that needs to be done.. I do not have any ties since i haven't been in panama that long (i was in the united sates last year with a student visa but we decided to get married and be together so i came to panama).. Also i lived for 5 years in canada with a refugee status ( wasn't deported or anything but my family decided to go to the united states where my brother is citizen since nothing was for sure in canada but we left in good terms ). I was getting ready to buy a car here since i found a good price so i wonder if this will help me also as a tie.. Also i live with my grandparents and i take care of them.. and i'm sure i can get a job letter for me and my wife from future employers if i explain them my situation... I want to know if i would be able to get the visa to visit canada... or what i'm lacking or if there is no way ... please help

Please tell us what happened to your refugee claim in Canada ?

Assuming the refugee status never occurred
, the following information may provide some help:

1. Outland sponsorship is processed on a priority. Usually takes 3- 6 months and sometime more. (varies by different offices)
2. If you both come back to panama, she has to prove to CIC that she will go back to Canada when you receive your visa.
3. If she starts working in Panama, it would make it hard for her to prove her willingness to move to Canada.

Now lets talk about your refugee status, and let me start by telling you it was NOT a good idea. Your application processing may be delayed dramatically(usually the case with failed refugees). So submit your application as soon as you can. And if you want to visit Canada, you may apply for visitor visa , but it will most likely be refused. Two reasons: You made a refugee claim previously and you are married to a Canadian, and you may never return back by the end of your authorized stay.

Thank you for replying.

Our refugee claim was being processed.. it took around 3 years until it was declined but we made an appeal.. in the appeal time we went to speak with a Canadian officer regarding it and they told us it was going to take around 7 months for them to reach a final decision ( you can appeal more then one time for this i think). Since the possibilities were low we asked if we could drop the case and leave canada which they said it would be no problem. We left the country using our own money and bought a ticket to panama city. Our passports were not sealed or anything and were returned in panama if i'm not mistaken.

Now the reason why i cannot stay in Canada is is because 1) she doesn't have a job in Canada to support our stay.( never have work... doesn't have university studies... ( can't afford to sponsor me at the moment ) 2) i wouldn't be able to work in Canada without work permit 3) the only reason i want to visit now is because i miss her and want to save us labor hand repairing the house to rent it meanwhile we are not there so it produces some sort of income.

We are not planning to stay in panama in a long run because we prefer the live in canada in many ways. For now we need to be here to build up a little bit more and have some money to get back to school when we get there.

Also it wasn't me personally who made the refugee claim but my parents I was either 17 or 18 back then... 2004* when it happened.

Chances are very very low, but if you feel that there is an urgent need for you to go to Canada, you should apply for visitor visa. Make sure you prove that you have strong ties to your home country and you will come back by the end of your authorized stay.

Good luck !

If you can get a job offer in Panama, to start when you return from Canada (specific dates make the letter from your future employer more credible), then you have a reasonable case for a temporary visa.
